This is a very busy pediatric medical practice and we are seeking high-energy people who enjoy working at a fast pace while providing quality service and care.SummaryPerforms venipunctures and skin puncture techniques involved in the collection of blood specimens from patients for laboratory procedures used in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. As well as a variety of technical tasks required to maintain the lab. This is a non-exempt position, full-time position.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesPerforms various routine and complex pediatric blood drawing procedures to include venipuncture and finger and heel stick, using standard equipment; vacutainer tubes and sleeves; tourniquets, syringes, and butterfly needles. Gathers information and data from patients or parents/guardians for laboratory records, explains procedures, allays fears, and elicits cooperation. Utilizes standard procedures for the maintenance of positive patient identification, and records appropriate collection information on the proper requisitions. Performs testing for CBC, Sed rate, glucose, and urine hCG analysis. Performs quality control procedures for urinalysis, INR, urine hCG, and glucose analysis. Centrifuge, label, and store blood samples for subsequent analysis by the laboratory. Maintains the inventory of supplies; reorders and stocks supplies on carts and hand trays.Records room, refrigerator, and freezer temperatures and humidity.Performs start-up and quality control procedures for CBC and Sed rate analyzers.Performs laboratory tests, verifies results, and reports findings in accordance with laboratory policies.Assists with collecting bone marrow aspirations and biopsy procedures.Other duties as assigned. Required Education And ExperienceHigh School diploma or GED Lab Assistant or Office Lab Assistant certification through the Division of Public and Behavioral Health in Nevada.Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a phlebotomist. Six (6) months of laboratory experience or laboratory coursework or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.Physical Demands And Work EnvironmentFrequently required to sit, stand, walk. Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity. Occasionally required to lift, push, carry 15 pounds. LANGUAGE SKILLS: English.CURE 4 THE KIDS FOUNDATION PARTICIPATES IN E-VERIFICATION.
