This position performs construction inspections of capital improvement projects and infrastructure associated with the proposed development for the City of Bryan.\nStarting Pay Rate:\n$22.00-$26.00/hour (depending on qualifications)\nWork Schedule:\nMonday-Friday; 8am-5pm\nResponsibilities:\nReviews plans, specifications, and sites for construction projects.\nInspects the construction of street improvements (i.e., paving, curb, gutter, sidewalk, etc.), bridges, storm drains and boxes, underground utility systems including lift stations, reservoirs, pressure stations, force mains, parks, grading and private street systems, street lights, and traffic signals.\nInspects pipe laying for alignment, grade, jointing, fittings, and materials.\nInspects subgrade and roadway base for compaction, alignment, grades, and materials.\nReviews product submittals, testing reports, video inspections, detour plans, haul routes, and erosion control plans.\nInspects grading, fine grading, and irrigation systems.\nEnforces ordinances pertaining to right of way and construction permits, dust control, erosion control, stormwater quality, grading, and public improvements.\nPrepares and checks progress payments, reduction and releases of securities, Notices of Completion, and minor engineering reports.\nKeeps miscellaneous records, maintains logs, and prepares reports as needed.\nReviews and makes recommendations on special construction issues and site conditions.\nSchedules and makes arrangements for construction surveys, soil and construction material testing, and other services or materials; conducts a variety of tests on new facilities.\nSchedules and coordinates shutdowns of City facilities affected by connections of new facilities; ensures all facets of shutdown and connections comply with City Standards and Specifications and approved plans.\nCoordinates construction and inspection services in cooperation with contractors and other agencies; communicates and confers with representatives of utility companies, contractors, public agencies, and the general public; answers citizen complaints and requests for information.\nPerforms related duties as required.\nResponds regularly and promptly to work.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nHigh School Diploma or GED.
