This is done through a variety of skill-based activities including to but not limited to archery/target sports, crafts, high adventure challenge, paddle sports, sailing, swimming, sports, teambuilding and service activities. We create an amazing moments and people.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nTo create a magical experience for everyone who comes to a YMCA program\nAbility to facilitate programs in the outdoors. We operate rain or shine, cold or hot. Staff should be prepared for New England weather.\nFacilitate incredible programming with a variety of guests from all backgrounds\nPrograms staff may need to facilitate, but are not limited to:\nTarget sports, aquatics, high ropes challenge course, sports, crafts, teambuilding, biking, cooking and other.\nPlan and implement activates that are developmentally appropriate, safe, related to camp themes (as applicable), and engaging\nBe able to perform songs, skits and presentations\nPlan, prepare and assist with special events hosted by the camp.\nMaintain a positive relationship with staff, campers, and family members\nWork as a team through positive approach and clear communication with others\nAttend all required work shifts, staff trainings and meetings\nAssist with facility upkeep, cleanliness and maintenance to provide the best experience\nProvide active supervision and programs that exhibits high standards in cleanliness and preparation\nUpholds and exemplifies the YMCA values\nPerforms all other duties as assigned by supervisor\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nMeets minimum age standards as established by state law and/or the Y.\nCPR, First Aid, and AED within 2-weeks of hire\nRed Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding Certification or able to obtain. Training available with YMCA\nChild Abuse Prevention training required before hire.\nPrevious experience working with children in a camp setting preferred.\nPrevious experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, high ropes challenge course, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, or recreational games.\nAbility to develop positive, authentic relationships with all people, from all walks of life.\nCommitment and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).\nWORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nAbility to plan, lead, and participate in program activities in a variety of indoor and/or outdoor settings.\nAbility to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.\nPossible exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.\nMust be able to lift and carry/or assist children us to 50 pounds in weight\nAbility to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.\nPosition may require bending, leaning, kneeling, climbing, swimming and walking. Staff may walk 3+ miles per day.\nAbility to speak concisely and effectively communicate.\nVisual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency\nBENEFITS\nProgram Instructor will receive training prior to leading our camp activities and program that is beneficial to both personal and professional development. Staff are also granted access to programs within operational expectations.
