Sports Director

We are seeking an energetic Sports Director to lead our Youth and Adult Sports and Summer Camp/Programs.Job DescriptionThe Sports Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for youth and adult sports and camp programs, with a strong focus on program growth, revenue generation, and community impact.This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving high-quality, mission driven programs that expand participation, increase revenue, and deliver an exceptional experience for all participants.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business, or related fieldMinimum of 2-3 years of related experience in program management or sports leadershipExperience with revenue generation and program growth strongly preferredMinimum age of 21Strong leadership, communication and organizational skillsAbility to work with diverse populations and build inclusive environmentsWillingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekendsEssential Functions Program Leadership & OperationsDirect and supervise all youth and adult sports programs and summer sports/day campsEnsures programs are high quality, safe and aligned with YMCA standards and missionDevelops, implements, and evaluates new and existing programs to meet community needsOversees scheduling, facility usage, and program logisticsEnsures equipment and facilities are safe, clean and well-maintainedProgram Growth & Revenue DevelopmentDevelops and executes strategies to increase program participation and revenueImplements strategies to improve participant retention and valueStaff Leadership & DevelopmentRecruits, hires, trains, schedules and supervises staff and volunteersBuilds a high performing, inclusive and mission-driven team cultureEnsures proper staff certifications, onboarding and compliance trainingParticipant Experience & EngagementEnsures a high quality, inclusive, and welcoming experience for all participants and familiesPromotes YMCA character values in all programs and interactionsResponds to participant concerns and resolves conflict effectivelyCommunity Engagement & PartnershipsBuilds and maintains relationships with schools and community organizationsRepresents the YMCA in the community to promote programs and missionIdentifies partnerships that expand reach and increase program participationFinancial Managment & AdministrationDevelops and manages program budgets to meet or exceed financial goalsTracks revenue, expenses, and program performance metricsEnsures accurate program setup, registration, and reporting using DaxkoRisk Managment & ComplianceEnsures all programs comply with YMCA policiesMaintains accurate incident reports and ensures timely follow-upImplements emergency procedures and risk managment protocolsEnsures staff meet all certifications and background screening requirementsCause-Driven Leadership CompetenciesCommunication & Influence: Engages, inspires, and builds commitment to the YMCA's causeDeveloping Self & Others: Fosters growth and development of staff and volunteersEngaging Community: Builds meaningful relationships to advance community impactCritical Thinking & Decision Making: Uses data and sound judgment to drive resultsRequired CertificationsCPR, First Aid, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens (must be completed within 30 days of hire)Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff (must be completed within 30 days of hire)Foundations Training (must be completed within 30 days of hire)YMCA Team Leader certification (or equivalent)Work Environment & Physical DemandsAbility to supervise programs in indoor and outdoor environmentsAbility to stand, walk and move for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 50 poundsFrequent use of computer and communication devicesPhysical ability to actively lead sports and camp activities
