As a responsible corporate citizen, we continuously seek new ways to broaden our participation in the environmental sector, ensuring that our future is as bright, safe, and secure as at any time in our long history.Principal AccountabilitiesOperate skimmer boat equipment to remove surface debris and contaminants from waterwaysConduct daily visual water quality assessments in the Claremont Channel areaMaintain detailed logs of skimming activities and water conditionsPerform routine maintenance on skimming equipment and watercraftCoordinate with terminal operations to ensure minimal disruption to shipping activitiesReport environmental concerns or unusual conditions to management immediatelyComply with all maritime safety protocols and environmental regulationsExperienceRequiredPrior hands-on experience operating and navigating watercraft, specifically specialized equipment such as skimmer boatsExperience performing routine mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting on marine vessels and industrial equipmentBackground working in highly regulated industrial or maritime environments, with a strong track record of adhering to safety and environmental protocolsSkillsPhysical ability and technical knowledge to safely maneuver a skimmer boat to remove surface debrisStrong observational skills to conduct accurate daily visual assessments of water qualityProficiency in maintaining detailed and accurate logs of daily activities and water conditions for compliance purposesAbility to coordinate effectively with terminal operations to avoid disruption to shipping trafficStrong communication skills to report environmental concerns or unusual conditions promptlySolid understanding of and adherence to maritime safety protocols and local environmental regulationsCore CompetenciesAgility & Resilience: Achieves positive outcomes in a changing environment, maintains a positive attitude under pressure, and seeks growth after setbacksEmotional Intelligence: Ability to perceive, understand, manage, and respond to emotions effectivelyQuality & Continuous Improvement: Focus on improving processes and systemsWork Execution, Productivity & Technical Skills: Demonstrates the knowledge, expertise, and skills required to perform the job and applies them effectively in daily dutiesA career with Sims provides you with the opportunity to work with an organization whose goal is to be the world’s safest and most responsible recycling company.
