This is a highly hands-on position requiring advanced SQL expertise and strong experience across the AWS data ecosystem. The ideal candidate can take ownership of complex data solutions from design through deployment, work effectively with large datasets, and partner with Data Science, Analytics, and business teams to deliver scalable and reliable data solutions.\n\nResponsibilities of the Senior Data Engineer - SQL & AWS:\nDesign, build, and maintain scalable data architecture, pipelines, and data models.\nBuild and optimize enterprise data warehouse solutions within AWS.\nWrite and optimize complex SQL queries across large datasets.\nDevelop data models and schemas, including dimensional models and star schemas.\nBuild data solutions utilizing AWS services including S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena, EMR, and Redshift.\nMonitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data jobs and infrastructure.\nImplement data quality checks, validation rules, monitoring, and alerting.\nPartner with Data Science, Analytics, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver reliable datasets.\nImprove data lineage, documentation, governance, and reusability.\nParticipate in code reviews, sprint planning, and other Agile development processes.\nMentor and collaborate with junior and offshore engineering resources.\nRequired Experience/Skills for the Senior Data Engineer - SQL & AWS:\n5+ years of professional Data Engineering experience.\nExpert-level SQL skills, including complex query development, joins, CTEs, window functions, aggregations, query optimization, and performance tuning.\nStrong hands-on experience with the AWS data ecosystem.\nExperience with S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena, EMR, and Redshift.\nStrong experience with data architecture and enterprise data warehouses.\nExperience with dimensional modeling and star schemas.\nExperience designing and building production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines.\nExperience working with large and complex datasets.\nAbility to independently troubleshoot data quality, pipeline, and performance issues.\nStrong communication and problem-solving skills.\nComfortable completing a technical SQL assessment during the interview process.\nMust be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.\nMust be able to work onsite in NYC 4 days per week.\nPreferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Data Engineer - SQL & AWS:\nExperience with dbt Labs.\nPython proficiency.\nExperience with DynamoDB, EC2, and/or Redis.\nExperience with data governance, lineage, quality, and observability.\nPrevious experience mentoring junior and/or offshore team members.\nEducation Requirements:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.\nBenefits:\nComprehensive health and wellness benefits.\nPaid time off.\nRetirement benefits.\nEmployee perks and incentives.\nCollaborative, learning-focused team environment.\nOpportunity to take ownership of and influence a growing enterprise data platform.\nJob Wrapping ID: #LI-AJ3\n\nAbout Atrium: What you do matters.
