Compliance Analyst supports the Bank’s BSA/AML and Sanctions compliance program by performing transaction monitoring reviews, sanctions screening analysis, and assisting with investigations. The role focuses on the review and disposition of alerts and cases, documentation of investigative findings, and escalation of potential financial crime risks. The Analyst will apply strong technical knowledge of BSA/AML and sanctions regulations while working within established compliance systems, policies, and procedures.The role also requires strong technical and analytical capabilities, including the ability to work with large datasets, perform research, and prepare compliance reports using tools such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. The Analyst will support internal reporting, case documentation, and research related to financial crime risks.The Compliance Analyst primarily focuses on alert review, case investigation support, and documentation, while system performance evaluation, model assessments, and program-level analysis are performed by senior compliance staff.Key ResponsibilitiesReview and investigate transaction monitoring and sanctions alerts in accordance with BSA/AML and sanctions requirements.Conduct initial investigative analysis of customer transactions, payment activity, and related documentation to identify potential suspicious activity.Assist with the preparation of case files and investigative documentation, including supporting research and narrative summaries.Perform sanctions and watchlist screening reviews, including analysis and disposition of potential matches.Support the preparation and documentation related to Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) under the guidance of senior compliance personnel.Utilize Excel and internal data tools to analyze transactional activity, organize case data, and support investigative reviews.Conduct open-source and regulatory research to support investigations and identify potential financial crime risks.Prepare internal reports, summaries, and presentations (PowerPoint) to support compliance reporting and management updates.Maintain accurate case documentation to support audit, regulatory, and internal review requirements.Assist with customer due diligence (CDD) and enhanced due diligence (EDD) reviews, as needed.Collaborate with internal teams including but not limited to Front Office, Operations, and Internal Controls to obtain supporting information for investigations.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Criminal Justice, or a related field.1–3 years of experience in BSA/AML, sanctions compliance, or financial crime compliance within a financial institution.Working knowledge of BSA/AML regulations, OFAC sanctions programs, and financial crime red flags.Experience using transaction monitoring or sanctions screening systems.Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, pivot tables, data organization) and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations.Strong analytical and investigative skills with attention to detail and ability to analyze financial data.Excellent research and documentation skills.Strong written communication skills for case documentation and investigative summaries.Self-starter with a high level of initiative and energy, capable of working independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced compliance environment.Preferred QualificationsExposure to SWIFT payments (e.g., MT103, MT202) or payment investigations.Familiarity with AML monitoring tools, sanctions screening platforms, or case management systems.Professional certification such as CAMS or progress toward certification.
