As an armed security specialist, you will be responsible for patrolling the campus on weekdays and weekends and assisting with events as needed. Your primary role will be to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors on campus during your shifts. You will be expected to patrol the campus on foot, monitor surveillance equipment, and report any suspicious or unauthorized activity. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds are essential for this role. You will be expected to work closely with other members of the security team and collaborate with local law enforcement agencies when necessary. This is an hourly position working up to 25 hours per week. The scheduled hours will be between 7:00 AM and 1:00 AM, Monday through Saturday. Pay is $25 per hour. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assist with the safety and security of staff, students, and visitors, and the protection of College propertySecures premises by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entryCompleting investigations and incident reports for injuries, violations of laws, violations of Student Code of Conduct, violations of Dixie Tech Policy, and insurance claimsInforms violators of policies and proceduresIssues trespass warnings as requiredHelp enforce Student Code of Conduct as assignedDe-escalate conflictsNotifies SGPD of incidents as seeks their assistance as neededAdminister drug tests and background checksProvide traffic control on campus where neededInterviewing witnessesMaintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirementsComplete required training for the state UtahAssist students, staff, and visitors with motor vehicle troublesMaintain lost and foundHelp maintain/control keys and accessUpdating and maintaining security logsReports irregularities to the Associate Director of FacilitiesEnsure that students and staff are treated respectfully and equally without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, age (40 or over), national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related condition.
