Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant plays an essential role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the efficient operation of the clinic. Working under the supervision of Licensed Providers and Site Supervisors, the Medical Assistant assists with clinical procedures, patient preparation, and operational workflows to ensure a smooth and compassionate healthcare experience.Medical Assistants collaborate closely with providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams to maintain efficient patient flow, uphold clinical standards, and support Nao Medical’s mission of providing accessible and value-based care.In addition to clinical responsibilities, Medical Assistants may assist with administrative and operational tasks as needed to support overall clinic operations and patient service.Roles & ResponsibilitiesPatient and Clinical Support● Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for clinical evaluation.● Collect vital signs and obtain patient histories, including chief complaints and relevantmedical information.● Assist licensed providers with clinical procedures and examinations as directed.● Perform EKG testing, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and laboratory preparation inaccordance with clinic protocols and certifications.● Prepare and label specimens for laboratory testing and ensure proper handling andtransport.● Assist with minor procedures including wound care, dressings, ear lavages, splintingassistance, breathing treatments, and suture or staple removal when applicable.● Maintain proper sterilization of medical equipment and clinical supplies in accordancewith infection control standards.● Document patient interactions and clinical activities accurately in the electronic medicalrecord system.Patient Experience and Care Coordination● Support a positive patient experience by assisting patients throughout their visit andaddressing general questions when appropriate.● Assist patients with mobility, positioning, and comfort during clinic visits as needed.● Communicate patient needs, concerns, or changes in condition to providers and clinicalstaff promptly.● Support clinic staff in maintaining efficient patient flow to ensure timely care delivery.● Help maintain a safe,respectful, and supportive environment for patients and staff.Clinic Operations Support● Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes when needed, includingregistration updates, appointment scheduling, and general patient assistance.● Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to appropriate staff members.● Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records while ensuring compliance withHIPAA and privacy standards.● Support the preparation and organization of patient charts, documentation, and visitmaterials.● Maintain cleanliness and readiness of examination rooms, treatment areas, and clinicalspaces.● Monitor and restock medical supplies and assist with inventory organization.● Support laboratory workflow including specimen preparation, labeling, anddocumentation.● Assist with prescription communication or pharmacy coordination when directed bylicensed providers.● Follow clinic protocols related to equipment use, infection control, and safetyprocedures.Team Collaboration and Professional Development● Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure coordinated patient careand efficient clinic operations.● Participate in company training programs, operational meetings, and performancediscussions.● Maintain knowledge of clinic services, workflows, and operational procedures.● Assist with onboarding, training, or mentoring of new staff members or interns whenrequested by site leadership.Required Training, Certifications, or Credentials● Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or relevant clinical certification such as EKGCertification or Phlebotomy Certification preferred.● Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.● Previous experience in a clinical or outpatient healthcare setting preferred.
