The role involves coordinating train crew activities, managing the loading and unloading of cargo, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations. Warehousing duties involved running a forklift and general warehouse upkeep.\nJob Responsibilities Conduct thorough pre and post trip inspections of the locomotive to ensure operational readiness\nOperate the locomotive using manual and computer controls in accordance with company procedures\nMonitor on-board instruments and gauges, including train speed, battery use, air pressure, amperage, etc\nMaintain clear communication with Conductors and Clerks, responding to instructions and following up with reports\nIdentify obstructions on tracks and provide warning signals at crossings\nAddress breakdowns and perform basic maintenance as required\nEnsure all logbooks and manuals are properly maintained and stowed in cabin\nComplete accurate reports as required\nEffectively and safely place cars to facilitate loading and unloading\nEnsure compliance with all train orders, signals, and railroad rules\nInspect all equipment on cars prior to departures\nReceive and transmit information by radio and telephone\nCouple and uncouple cars, operate switches, and make minor repairs as needed\nWork with customers to ensure accurate movement and placement of cars\nOperate locomotive equipment thought the use of remote control devices\nMaintain consistent awareness of surroundings\nSafely and effectively operate a forklift.\nAny other duties as assigned\nQualifications Proven experience as a Locomotive Engineer/Conductor\nAdvanced knowledge of mechanical and electrical locomotive systems\nStrong diagnostic and problem solving skills\nStrong commitment to safety\nPhysical Requirements Ability to concentrate for long periods\nCapable of lifting moderate weights occasionally\nGood hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity\nAble to sit for extended periods\nComfortable working in various weather conditions\nAble to climb ladders and step on uneven surfaces\nBasic mechanical skills for minor troubleshooting and repairs\nIn-depth area knowledge including road crossings, track curves, and tunnels\nAbility to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 83 pounds on a rare basis.\nStoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, balance, climb.\nWork in cramped, confined, or awkward places.\nRide on the outside of rail equipment for long periods.\nWalk long distances over uneven terrain.\nWork safely to prevent on-the-job accidents and injuries.\nWear protective equipment including hearing protection, safety-toe boots, or safety glasses.\nSafety Notice Safety is of the utmost importance within our company.
