FT Food Service Worker Department: Program and Support Services FLSA Status: Full Time / Non Exempt (Hourly) Work Schedule: Tues-Sat / 10am-6:30pm Reports to: Executive Chef Rate of Pay: $19.44-$27.07Hour (DOE/DOQ) Posting Date: 9/19/2024 Closing Date: when position is filled Benefits Full Medical, Dental and Vision benefits after 60 days employment (30 days for active Licensed or Certified Healthcare Professionals). 1. HL7N pays 100% of the insurance premium for Full-time Employees (32 hours+). 2. HL7N pays 100% of the Employees $5,000 deduction utilizing the Difference Debit Card 3. HL7N pays 100% of the Employees Dental and Vision expenses up to $1,000 utilizing the Difference Debit Card. $75,000 Life Insurance, Short and Long-Term disability after 90 days. HL7N pays 100% of the Life Insurance premium for Full-time Employees (32 hrs.+). Annually Employees receive 12 paid holidays; 20 Paid-Time-Off (PTO) days per year after the employee has been employed FTE (32 hrs.+) and achieve successful 90-days performance evaluation rating. 403(b) Thrift Savings Plan with the HL7N maximum pension contribution of 4%, completed 12 months of employment (2,080 hrs.) and successful performance evaluation rating. Healing Lodge employment may qualify for the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program as well as loan repayment through Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) About the Company The Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations is a youth residential treatment facility which provides a safe and caring healing environment for adolescents. The Healing Lodge treatment program integrates traditional, spiritual and cultural values with chemical dependency and mental health counseling to create a holistic approach toward healing. Residents include both Native American and non-Native from all areas of the country. About the Position The Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing attractive, nutritional meals and snacks for the food service program provided to residents under a residential treatment program, staff and guests; maintains kitchen areas, storage areas, and food service equipment. Education and/or Experience: Minimum one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to follow recipes Operation of kitchen equipment, cooking utensils in a food service facility required Must have knowledge of regulations and procedures used in food preparation, serving and storage Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years kitchen production experience and/or training in the culinary arts Excellent understanding of food preparation fundamentals Sound understanding of food allergies and foodborne illnesses Experience with menu planning and creative food preparation techniques Proficient knife-handling skills Experience and/or training working with at-risk adolescents in a therapeutic environment and/or residential treatment or other institutional type environment Experience working with and/or knowledge of Native American communities, history, and culture preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic mathematical skills, ability to work independently, and excellent interpersonal skills preferred. Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations: Must maintain a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record Must maintain current State Food Handlers Permit Serve Safe Certification preferred Essential Duties and Responsibilities 50% Prepares meals and snacks according to planned cycle menu and standardized recipes using efficient time management and product use to reduce cost and waste Preform preparation duties such as rinsing, peeling, slicing, dicing, weighing and measuring fruit, vegetables, meat and other ingredients Ensuring ingredients are tagged, date-labeled, covered, stored and rotated effectively Cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing work areas, equipment, utensils and service station Following guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control Complying with relevant safety, hygiene and service standards and procedures Serving residents, staff and guests in a professional, efficient and friendly manner Maintains confidential information regarding adolescent issues and identities 40% Preparing dining areas and kitchen for next shift by cleaning and restocking dining areas, serving stations, and cook stations Maintain accurate and timely production records and meal participation logs Cleaning machines and appliances used in the kitchen, such as coffee makers, pots, and pans, mixers, etc. Maintain inventory and stock levels of food items and paper supplies Unloading and storing deliveries Sweeping and mopping floors, especially in the event that items are broken or spilled Taking out the trash and rinsing garbage cans Supporting other kitchen staff members by assisting with other tasks, as needed Reporting kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures Working effectively with kitchen team, and complying with company procedures and food safety policies 10% Attend meetings/trainings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work may be performed: in fluctuating temperatures, including heat from cooking and cleaning equipment and cold from walk-in storage and freezers. Work is performed in kitchen environment using equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, slicers, mixers, knives, etc.
