This role focuses on improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and supporting maintenance teams with strong technical guidance.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nSupport maintenance and operations teams with troubleshooting and resolution of electrical, power distribution, control, and instrumentation system issues in both normal and emergent conditions\n\nAnalyze equipment failures and recurring issues, lead root cause analyses, and develop corrective and preventive actions to prevent repeat failures\nDevelop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for electrical assets, including motors, drives, switchgear, controls, and related systems\nReview, create, and update electrical job plans, maintenance procedures, and preventive maintenance tasks to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability\nProvide electrical engineering support for equipment repairs, system upgrades, and capital improvement projects from design through execution\nIdentify equipment reliability risks and obsolescence concerns, and recommend design changes, process improvements, or replacement strategies\nSupport commissioning, testing, and turnover of new or modified electrical systems, ensuring systems meet design intent and operational requirements\nEnsure compliance with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and site safety requirements, including support of audits and inspections\nCollaborate closely with reliability, mechanical, and operations teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and support reliability-centered maintenance efforts\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to maintenance personnel as needed\nPrefer experience in a utility, or research environment and familiarity with CMMS systems and asset management tools (specifically IBM Maximo)\n\nQualifications:\n\nU.S. Citizenship required.\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.\nBS degree in Electrical Engineering or in appropriate discipline and two (2) to five (5) years related engineering experience, or MS degree and one (1) to three (3) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. and zero (0) to one (1) year of experience from an accredited engineering school and a working knowledge of maintenance and reliability requirements for mechanical systems.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills and experience in Microsoft Office applications required.\n\nFunctional Skills:\n\nAbility to troubleshoot and identify failure cause for Mechanical Systems\nFailure analysis including preservation of evidence techniques\nRoot Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)\nEngineering design standards and their application\nReliability Engineers are encouraged to get CMRP certified (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional)\n\nEssential Functions:\n\nWork Environment:\nOffice Environment (45%) Test Environment- May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals, and industrial facility environments (45%) Travel between various facilities/test operations is required (10%)\n\nPhysical Requirements:\nMust have sufficient mobility to enter all areas of test facilities; crawl, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, ability to work at elevated levels on platforms and scaffolding, etc. (20%).
