Unarmed Security Guard

We are looking for a floating unarmed security guard for our two locations on Pennsylvania Avenue. You will work 2 days at Payless Thrift Store and 2 days at Community Thrift Store across the street. You will get 32 hours per week and if you are able to pick up another shift if one of our other security guards are not here then you can get 40 hours in a week. We are only looking for someone to cover the days off that our guards already have off. So you would work Monday through Thursday 11am till 7:30pm. Must have good background to apply and have own transportation. You can apply in person at either store: Community Thrift Store Payless Thrift Store Job Summary We are seeking a vigilant and professional Unarmed Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of our premises, employees, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring access points, conducting patrols, and maintaining a secure environment through observation and communication. This role requires a strong sense of responsibility, excellent judgment, and the ability to handle various situations with professionalism. Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or security is a plus, along with certifications such as CPR and First Aid. Duties Monitor and control access to the facility by checking identification and issuing visitor passes. Conduct regular patrols of the premises to identify potential security risks or safety hazards. Observe activity through surveillance systems such as CCTV to detect suspicious behavior or unauthorized access. Respond promptly to incidents or emergencies, including medical emergencies, conflicts, or security breaches. Document incidents accurately in reports and communicate effectively with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary. Enforce company policies related to loss prevention and safety protocols. Maintain a visible presence to deter misconduct and ensure a secure environment for staff and visitors. Assist in conflict management by de-escalating tense situations professionally and calmly. Skills Strong knowledge of surveillance techniques, CCTV operation, and loss prevention strategies. Excellent conflict management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure. Basic first aid and CPR certification preferred to respond effectively during medical emergencies. Background in law enforcement, military service, or previous security experience is advantageous. Ability to observe keenly and report accurately on incidents or suspicious activities. Good communication skills for interacting with visitors, staff, law enforcement, and emergency responders. Knowledge of security protocols, safety procedures, and conflict resolution methods.
