The Team Leader accounts for cash and credit cards, completes daily reporting procedures, controls fuel and store inventory, and balances the daily sales for the site. This position is also responsible for employee relations (e.g. recruiting, training), motivating, developing, analyzing site profitability and for working closely with merchandise vendors. The store manager works closely with other members at the site, as well as other managers to create a team approach for the operation and control of the site.\n\nPrimary Duties:\n\nThe Team Leader will demonstrate a high degree of proficiency and consistency in each of the following performance areas: Technical Skills, Leadership, Personal Effectiveness, Understanding in Business, and Customer Responsiveness. The Team Leader will serve as a model for personnel throughout the site. The Team Leader must be highly adaptive and must be able to manage change. The Team Leader must also be supportive of the company programs and policies and projects that support to co-workers and direct reports. Successfully achieving the objectives of the position requires the effective execution of the following responsibilities. The Team Leader may also be assigned special duties as approved by upper management.\n\nTechnical Skills\nAbility to perform basic arithmetic, reading and writing, analyzes and solves problems\nAccurately accounts for site funds by completing weekly Armored Car Removal\nMaintain proper change levels (Store Bank) also balance daily\nCompletes payroll on a timely and accurate basis\nCounts and balances store inventory on agreed time frames\nInvestigates and resolves all error letters/shortages/loss issues with manager and team members on a timely basis\nReports all out of tolerance conditions on a timely basis\nAssist with Customer Service Representative in balancing daily shift checkout\nCounts, reconciles inventory in accordance with company & division policy\nAccounts for the following and keys data into the back office system:\nSales reporting daily (by 11:00 AM)\nCompetitor price surveys daily (by 8:00 AM)\nInvoice purchases cash/charge in Cstore and Scan Group\nRetail inventory adjustments and update shelf labels\nPayroll Monday (by end of business)\nCoupons/Gift Certificates\nLottery Reports (Lottery audit done weekly on Monday)\nIncident Reporting\nImmediately notifies the home office of any report discrepancies\nKnowledgeable in company procedures related to safety, alcohol, tobacco laws\nEnsure proper inventory levels are maintained to avoid run outs or overstocks\nMonitor vendor activity and compliance with check in policy\nPrepare work schedule within payroll budget\nResolve shift coverage problems\nUpdates back office information board with targets and projections for the site team\nOperates register and other POS equipment as needed by the site\nUnderstands and implements the merchandising standards set by Triumph Energy, including promotions and appropriate POS\nChanges fuel prices in a timely manner\nMonitors sales, shortages, and manpower targets for the site; works closely with Assistant Manager and Customer Service Representative to resolve issues associated with meeting these targets\nPerform self-maintenance within approved guidelines, identifies maintenance issues and calls home office personnel in emergency situations\nLeadership\nLeads by example (role model)\nObjective- positive attitude\nSelf directed- goal oriented\nRespected by peers and subordinates\nResolves conflict\nMotivate others and leads change\nFocuses on team building and personnel development (teacher and a coach)\nUnderstands what makes people “tick” and works to help subordinates reach their potential\nAble to give objective performance feedback\nGood communication skills\nViewed as trustworthy and dependable by peers and subordinates\nAccepts responsibility and follows through completely and timely\nRecommends personnel action (rate increases, promotions, development, or termination)\nKeeps team focused on image inside and outside at all times\nPractice the “GUEST” approach\nPersonnel Effectiveness\nIntegrity\nMotivated\nDemonstrates self confidence\nDetail Focused\nObservant and prioritize duties according to business needs\nGoal oriented\nRelishes change\nPersonal warmth\nUnderstanding The Business\nUnderstands the principle of accounting, finance, marketing and management\nUnderstand the principles of merchandising\nAbility to analyze and resolve problems\nUnderstands the needs and wants of our guest\nCustomer Responsiveness (Service)\nResolving customer service issues within approved delegation of authority\nCustomers focused and responsiveness to needs and complaints timely\nDemonstrate enthusiasm and energy\nSuggestive sells and works closely with Customer Service Representatives to assure sales targets are met\nWorks closely with Customer Service Representatives in creating a team approach to customer service and housekeeping to assure Mystery Shop, Responsible Alcohol Sales targets, and brand inspection targets are met.\nTeam Player\nAssist Customer Service Representative with routine problem solving\nAccepts responsibility\nActively recruiting, interviewing and testing, and selection of employees\nConducts training, cross training and development of employees\nWorks with other team members of the site to assure safety awareness levels are maintained\nVendor check in and stocking\nRecognizes and awards CSR for excellence\nEducation And Experience Requirements\nHigh School diploma or equivalent experience; fundamental knowledge of retail marketing, preferable in the petroleum, convenience store or fast food industries; strong administrative and analytical, interpersonal and leadership skills\nMust have satisfactorily completed company training and certification requirements\nPerformance measurement\nYour progress will be measured through regular performance appraisals yearly. Part of the appraisal process is shared objectives that consist of the performance measures and other objectives agreed upon with your supervisor.\n\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to lift and carry cases of merchandise such as motor oil, soft drinks, beer, bags of ice, and groceries, etc. (Up to an approximate weight of 25 pounds).\nHave the ability to frequently bend, stoop and reach in order to reach safe drops, under and over counter supplies and goods, Make changes to outside reader board, etc. Must be able to use arms above head/shoulder level.\nClimb a ladder or step up to reach supplies in overhead area.
