In this role, you’ll help build and support a modern data platform in Microsoft SQL Server, transforming raw and messy data into high-performance, conformed star schemas that drive business intelligence and reporting\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nBuild multi-layer data pipelines moving data through:\nRaw layer: ingest structured/semi-structured data from multiple sources\nDelta layer: cleanse, deduplicate, and standardize data\nConformed layer: apply consistent business logic to create enterprise “sources of truth”\nGold layer (Star Schema): create optimized Fact and Dimension tables for reporting\nImplement historical tracking using SCD Type 2 patterns (EffectiveDate, EndDate, IsCurrent, etc.)\nOptimize performance (T-SQL tuning, indexing strategies, partitioning approaches) as data volume grows\nSupport data governance and lineage standards (sentinel “-1” records, audit columns like InsertDate/UpdateDate)\nRequired qualifications\n2–4 years of experience in a Data Engineering / BI Developer type role\nStrong MS SQL Server / T-SQL skills (CTEs, window functions, MERGE statements, etc.)\nWorking knowledge of Kimball dimensional modeling (Star Schemas) and medallion-style layered data architecture\nHands-on experience building SCD Type 2 dimensions\nExperience with SSIS and/or Azure Data Factory (ADF) (or similar ETL/orchestration tools)\nPreferred qualifications\nExperience with hybrid sources (flat files, APIs, SQL databases)\nFamiliarity with Git/version control for database scripts\nExposure to Azure SQL Database\n\nSystem One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
