This level requires extensive progressive experience in electrical and instrumentation design and involves applying advanced design techniques and analysis. This position requires some supervision of less experienced personnel. This work will be performed under general supervision.\nPrimary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:\nFamiliarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards.\nRecognizing and communicating project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.\nProducing installation details, motor control center single lines, electric room layouts, motor control elementaries, connection diagrams, cable schedules, control panel layouts and grounding, lighting, power and instrumentation plans under minimal supervision.\nRecognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly.\nOn-site assistance during startup.\nProviding technical guidance to less experienced drafting personnel in the department.\nCoordinating work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead.\nProducing 480VAC equipment specifications with engineering review and approval.\nProducing 15kV/5kV equipment specifications with engineering review and approval.\nProducing electrical installation specifications with engineering review and approval.\nComplete understanding of the skills and experience required to perform design functions.\nThis position offers a highly competitive compensation package, including paid time off, health insurance benefits, and matching retirement contributions.\nIdeal Background\nEducation: Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.\nCertification: Certification is not required at this level.\nExperience: This position requires 8+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and design.\nRequired Knowledge Skills and Abilities\nFamiliarity with the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC).\nAbility to perform lighting level calculations.\nAbility to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for both lighting and power applications.\nAbility to perform voltage drop calculations.\nAbility to route conduit and cable tray.\nAbility to calculate tray and conduit fill.\nAbility to determine motor control center loading.\nFamiliarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment.\nAbility to create accurate electrical installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings.\nAbility to determine load center unit substation loading.\nKnowledge and understanding of work flow/information flow between disciplines.\nKnowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all electrical deliverables.\nAbility to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks.\nAbility to determine load center unit substation loading.\nAbility to develop equipment specifications for 480VAC equipment such as, motor control centers, variable frequency drivers, induction and synchronous motors, load center unit substations, etc. with engineering review and approval.\nFamiliarity with 15kV power system equipment and installation techniques both above and below ground.\nAbility to develop equipment specifications for 15kV/5kV equipment such as, switchgear, load break switches, motor control centers, etc. and capable of performing calculations for required short circuit and overcurrent protective device ratings with engineering review and approval.\nAbility to develop electrical installation specifications with engineering review and approval.\nAbility to develop a construction cost estimate, a detailed engineering schedule and a man-hour budget for a small project or an area for a larger project.\nKnowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.\nAbility to lead a small team to deliver on commitments.\nAbility to deliver presentations of Hargrove Engineers & Constructors services.\nProficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.\nProficient in the use of 2D AutoCAD and Microstation. 3D AutoCAD desirable.\nGood communication skills, both verbal and written.\nVirtual team skills and cross divisional relationships are developed and able to provide interoffice execution support under general supervision.
