The ideal candidate will be actively enrolled in a construction management or engineering program at a recognized college or university, have a developing interest or experience in industrial construction, be organized, motivated, detail-oriented and driven. This is the perfect opportunity to learn about the industry and build a career at a leading industrial maintenance and construction firm.\n\nWe are offering a competitive salary corresponding with experience.\n\nSchultz may employ Interns at our regional offices, maintenance sites, and large project construction sites for summer and winter semester break periods. Interns may be assigned to Site Managers, Project Managers and/or Department Managers.\n\nThis position will report to the E&I regional manager and work directly with our electrical and instrumentation department estimating, planning and delivering projects to Schultz clients in the southern California region.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nSite Managers and Project Managers may assign to Interns such duties as:\n\n· Document control including receipt, distribution and transmittal of engineered drawings, plans, isometrics, and technical specifications.\n\n· Assist in research of construction problems for possible resolution.\n\n· Assist with project documentation tasks including submittals, cost reporting; status reporting; project documentation; change order development, estimating and processing.\n\n· Assist with estimating duties including drawing or material takeoff, preparation of subcontractor Request for Proposal’s (RFP’s), review and markup of specific bid documents.\n\n· Assist the Office Manager with various administrative duties.\n\n· Assist the QC department with documentation of quality requirements.\n\n· Assist the safety department with the site safety program\n\n· Assist with purchasing or receiving office equipment and supplies.\n\n· Assist in management of project specific subcontractors.\n\n· Special projects and/or research as assigned by the Area manager.\n\nDepartment managers may assign to Interns such duties as:\n\n· Work with the Estimating department in preparation of proposals\n\n· Work with the Information Technology department.\n\n· Assist with creating and maintaining Safety Department documentation.\n\n· Assist with creating and maintaining Quality Control documentation.\n\nSkillset\n\n· Able to read and understand engineered drawings, plans, isometrics, and technical specifications\n\n· Able to determine quantities by reviewing pipe, steel, or equipment drawings\n\n· Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.\n\n· Proficient computer skills - Microsoft programs, Bluebeam, etc. Experience with Primavera or MS Project is a plus.\n\n· Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines\n\n· Solid problem-solving skills\n\n· Schultz to provide knowledge base of the various trades associated with construction and maintenance in industrial facilities.\n\n· Goals for completion of the Internship include improved skills in Analyzing Information, Developing Budgets, Reporting Skills, Decision Making, Teamwork, Documentation Skills, Quality Focus\n\nQualifications\n\n· High school diploma or GED\n\n· 1-2 semesters of progress towards a degree in Construction Management or related field\n\n· Able to satisfy client facility entry requirements that may include (but are not limited to); drug/alcohol testing; background screen verification; site-specific safety and orientation courses; company specific safety and orientation courses; obtain TWIC certification\n\n· Valid driver’s license preferred\n\nLocation Information:\n\nSchultz Broadwick Office & Wh\n\nLocation of Job: US:CA:Rancho Dominquez\n\nShift:\n\nExempt: No\n\nSalary Range: Min: $20.00 Max: $25.00\n\nWorking Conditions\n\nWe conform to all the laws, statutes, and regulations concerning equal employment opportunities and affirmative action.
