Shipping and Receiving Specialist
Avcon Industries partners with governments and organizations globally for custom special-mission aircraft modifications. They are a one stop shop that handles design, manufacturing, installation, and certification. The internal team consists of design engineers, in house FAA DER teams, modification/fabrication technicians, installation technicians and test pilots.
Position Summary
The Stockroom, Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for performing general warehouse operations, including receiving, stocking, issuing, cycle counting, data entry, and packing a wide variety of products to meet domestic and international customer requirements. This role also maintains accurate inventory records and supports material flow throughout the facility.
Experience Requirements:
13 years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Basic math and computer skills required
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong communication skills with coworkers and management
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support warehouse operations including receiving, picking, restocking, maintaining floor bins, and cycle counting
Complete tasks according to production schedules with minimal supervision
Pack and unpack items for storage or shipment
Store materials in an organized and accessible manner
Inspect inventory for damage or defects and report issues
Receive incoming parts and enter data into inventory systems
Verify quantities and part markings against packing slips
Stock materials or issue parts to production/aircraft as needed
Process inventory transactions including purchase orders and part issuance
Label inventory using tags, stamps, or other identification methods
Perform cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy
Assist in resolving inventory discrepancies and identifying root causes
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment
Complete required material documentation
Learn and support internal inventory systems and material flow processes
Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures
Conduct bin audits to maintain accuracy
Prepare materials for shipment according to requirements
Record shipping, packaging, and order details accurately
Inspect packaging to ensure compliance with specifications
Measure, weigh, and count materials as needed
Maintain adequate shipping supply inventory
Check UPS shipments daily and communicate COD (cash on delivery) details
Pull parts for kits and production needs
Monitor inventory levels for purchased and fabricated parts
Stock fabricated parts and coordinate with QA and production teams
Perform monthly and annual inventory counts
Process stock adjustments
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Basic understanding of machinery and warehouse equipment
Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)
Team-oriented mindset with ability to follow direction
Willingness to learn multiple tasks and responsibilities
Ability to learn international shipping requirements
Physical Demands:
Light to moderate physical activity required
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly (assistance required for heavier items)
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
Ability to stand for extended periods
Work performed in a warehouse/plant environment with varying conditions
