We are an ambitious team of Belters building the world's smartest, safest, and fastest form of short-range mobility — Accelerating Walkways.\nWhy This Role Exists Beltways is seeking a highly experienced Controls Engineer to join our fast-paced startup building the world’s first modular accelerating walkway. The Controls Engineer will take the technical lead in developing Beltways’ next generation products.\nThis is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the fastest growing startups in the mass transit industry.\nRole Responsibilities Develop machine programs to specifications while having the ability to define what the specifications are.\nPrepare and present detailed designs and critical technical reviews.\nIdentify and resolve system design weaknesses.\nIdentify hardware and software necessary for operating a safe and code-compliant system system.\nAssist in creating complete interface control and assembly drawings.\nAssist in checking and validating that designs meet the requirements of ASME A17.1 and other standards.\nMentor fellow engineers on rigor, analytics and proven engineering standards and practices.\nCollaborate with members of Beltways team to advance the technical and company culture goals of the company.\nRequired Skills Candidates should have a working knowledge and understanding of industrial automation equipment such PLCs, motion control, robotics, distributed I/O, fieldbus systems (EtherCAT), and HMI technologies.\nB.S. or M.S. in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related technical field from a four-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.\nAt least 7 years of industry experience, and open to less if experience is highly relevant.\nExperience in mobility, automotive, conveyor, or industrial automation is a plus.\nCandidates with strong programming proficiency are preferred.\nExperience with Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 PLC programming, TwinSAFE, HMI Server, Database Server, and NC PTP.\nExperience using extensive I/O for machine operations. Familiarity with SICK sensors is a plus.\nExperience with programming languages IEC 61131-3 (object-oriented extension), C#, C++, etc.\nExperience with Python is a plus.\nExperience working with big data in SQL databases and cloud tools such as Microsoft Azure.\nFamiliarity with cybersecurity best practices is a plus.\nExperience with Windows, IT-networking, and Microsoft Office applications.\nSelf-starter with a results-driven personality.\nStrong analytical and reasoning skills to participate in a fast-paced, action-oriented team.\nExcellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present to customers, suppliers and/or internal teams.\nExcellent critical and creative thinking, time management, conflict management, and teamwork.\nOutcomes You will generate concepts or will use already developed concepts and take each system through the development cycle of design reviews, documentation creation, analysis, safety, performance verification and integration with higher level systems.\nYou will be responsible for the development of the critical test equipment and fixtures that support the development effort of the core systems.\nYou will also be performing important aspects of technical lead duties including multiple design & technical interchange reviews and status reviews.\nYou may be assisted by a team of automation and mechanical engineers and will coordinate their time in a way that best meets the company’s needs.\nYour work will be achieved through collaboration with other technical and non-technical members of the Beltways team.\nCompensation for Full Time Employment Competitive industry salary\nStock options\nComprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance\nPaid time off\nWhy Beltways Beltways is a Public Benefit Corporation focused on accelerating humanity.
