In this role, you will review and evaluate engineering plans, specifications, technical reports, and supporting documents submitted for a wide range of public and private development projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in civil engineering principles and a thorough understanding of design standards, regulatory requirements, and permitting processes.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nReview civil engineering improvement plans to ensure conformance with agency standards, ordinances, project conditions of approval, and industry practice\nReview grading and drainage plans for various compliance conditions\nReview storm drain plans and hydrology/hydraulic calculations and reports for various compliance conditions\nReview water, sewer and dry utility plans for various compliance conditions\nPerform complex engineering calculations and analyses to check engineering calculations provided by applicants.\nResolve problems related to local city codes and city specifications in order to bring drawings and specifications into compliance\nCoordinate with Surveyors regarding tentative maps and/or land development applications for conformance with agency standards (entitlement process)\nReview and manage Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPs) and post-construction Stormwater Runoff Management Plans for various projects, and other functions to comply with State and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements\nReview studies related to the Floodplain Management Program\nAssist in establishing and/or revising departmental policies due to changes in methods of construction or field applications of codes; Trains staff in application of new codes, policies, and procedures\nOther related duties as assigned\n\nRequirements\n\nBachelor’s of Science degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.\n5+ years of progressively responsible work in public works or a related setting.\nMust be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing with architects, engineers, builders, inspectors, and the general public.\nMust have the ability to communicate to train staff.\nRole requires 10-30% of travel time\n\nPhysical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.\n\nWork Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.\n\nBenefits\n\nThe typical base salary range for this position is $105,000.00- $128,000.00, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
