The Assistant Safety Manager ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and with company safety requirements. Responsible for continuous leadership, recruitment and training of operator candidates. Promotes strong leadership and influences positive employee morale throughout the location. The above represents the standard Corporate Policy.\nKey Responsibilities:\nInvestigates incidents, accidents, and work-related injuries including accident investigation, accident reports, accident files, accident register, and follows up with the claims office and adjusters as necessary. Typically determines fault or preventability based on the facts identified at the scene.\nProvides post-accident counseling with drivers.\nRetrains drivers as necessary.\nEnsure that all submittals are accurate and submitted on time in accordance with the contract\nUpdate and report activity to the management staff in a consistent and timely manner\nPerforms random audits of maintenance DVIR and quality checks of all records within the department along with contractor performance, i.e. wash logs, fuel logs, etc.\nPerforms random audits with Safety Manager regarding department requirements, i.e.. D&A Compliance, BOCT Logs and timely updates, etc.\nPrepares and submits accident-related compliance forms, maintains files, and enters DMO, or otherwise submits data to the appropriate person or organization.\nPlans, schedules and conducts monthly safety meetings based on region and company safety and safety training goals and objectives.\nAssists and participates in Safety Action Team meetings. Sets up regular accident review committees to determine preventability of accidents. Responds to appeals from drivers.\nProvide necessary data and information to assist with monitoring and coordination of quality improvement, credentialing, and service outcomes\nPerforms driver road checks of driver performance (e.g., pre-trip checks-lot-to-school and back; post-trip checks).\nProvide various reports and analyzes, including safety trends Develops cost saving recommendations. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.\nUnderstands and monitors compliance with operations contracts\nCompletes reports and other required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.\nOther responsibilities as required or requested\n\nQualifications:\nExperience in a Safety role is preferred 5 years Operations experience (includes all roles within operations starting with the driver role).\nValid DOT card\nCommitted to Safety Lifestyle\nKnowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues\nProficient computer literacy essential with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with other software such as timekeeping and payroll systems is preferred.\nLiteracy in technology used to manage the operation to include but not limited to FGA approved Smart technology, Apps, encrypted drives, shared drives and other Smart technology.\nAbility to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively\nGood verbal and written communication skills\nStrong interpersonal skills in dealing with employees of all levels including drivers, customers senior management, client representatives, union officials and general public.\n5 years Operations experience (includes all roles within operations starting with the driver role)\nFluent in English\nPhysical Requirements:\nThe essential functions of this position require the ability to:\nWork outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.\nSit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces\nPush and pull objects up to 20 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level\nWithstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
