WHY DO WE NEED YOU?As the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, you will lead the engineering and maintenance function for a high-volume manufacturing plant, ensuring safe operations, strong equipment reliability, and continuous improvement. In this role, you will drive World Class Manufacturing (WCM) maintenance strategies, lead capital and reliability projects, and develop high-performing engineering and maintenance teams. You will partner closely with Production, EHS, Quality, and Corporate Engineering to support 24/7 operations, improve asset performance, and help deliver the plant's safety, quality, and business objectives.Key Responsibilities & Focus AreasSafety & Compliance LeadershipLead all engineering and maintenance activities with a strong focus on employee, contractor, and equipment safetyEnsure compliance with OSHA, corporate, and site safety standards, including LOTO, permit-to-work, confined space, and contractor safety programsChampion continuous improvement in safety systems, audits, and behavioral safety initiativesMaintenance Strategy & Asset ReliabilityLead the maintenance organization to achieve high equipment reliability, availability, and technical performanceImplement and sustain World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and Professional Maintenance practices, including preventative, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenanceDrive root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and ensure effective, sustainable corrective actionsEngineering & Capital Project ManagementLead capital and non-capital engineering projects from concept through execution and commissioningCoordinate equipment installations, upgrades, automation, utilities, and infrastructure improvementsManage projects to meet scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality requirementsTeam Leadership & Talent DevelopmentProvide direct leadership to engineers, maintenance managers/supervisors, planners, and technical staffDevelop technical and leadership capability through coaching, training, and succession planningFoster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaborationBudget & Resource ManagementManage maintenance and engineering budgets, including CAPEX projects, spare parts inventory, and operating costsOptimize resource allocation to balance cost control with reliability and performance objectivesCross-Functional & Stakeholder CollaborationPartner closely with Production, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and Corporate Engineering teams to support plant objectivesInterface with vendors, OEMs, and contractors to support maintenance execution and engineering projectsSupport site and corporate initiatives aligned with WCM and business strategyIS THIS JOB FOR YOU?RequiredBachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Automation/Controls, or related)7+ years experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with progressive responsibility in maintenance, reliability, or engineering roles3+ years of people leadership experience leading engineers, supervisors, planners, and technical staffHands-on experience with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance systemsProven capability in root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of sustainable corrective actionsExperience managing capital and non-capital engineering projects, including equipment installation and commissioningWorking knowledge of CMMS systems, maintenance planning/scheduling, budgeting, and cost controlStrong understanding of industrial manufacturing equipment and systems (mechanical, electrical, and process)PreferredExperience working within Wold Class Manufacturing (WCM) or similar continuous improvement systemsBackground in reliability improvement initiatives, autonomous maintenance, standard work, and 5S implementationKnowledge of industrial safety systems, including LOTO, contractor safety, and permit-to-work programsFamiliarity with applicable electrical and mechanical safety standards (e.g. NEC, Arc-Flash awareness)\Strong cross-functional collaboration experience with Production, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain teamsPhysical Requirements & Working ConditionsAbility to work on-site in an industrial manufacturing environment supporting 24/7 operationsMay require extended hours, weekend, or holiday work to support plant needs and critical projectsA LITTLE MORE ABOUT USThrough the responsible development of innovative and sustainable building products, CertainTeed, headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, has helped shape the building products industry for more than 110 years.
