General Description The Industrial Hygiene (IH) Manager is responsible for overseeing the industrial hygiene, health physics, and respiratory protection services programs. This role involves developing and implementing management plans, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, and providing guidance on environmental health and safety within the workplace. The IH Manager will also be responsible for maintaining quality assurance and control procedures, coordinating with various departments, and supporting the overall goals of the Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) program at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). How You Will Fulfill Your Mission Manage the industrial hygiene, health physics, and respiratory protection services programs. Develop management plans, document control procedures, quality assurance/quality control requirements, and necessary work management controls. Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and review of quality control/performance. Ensure contract compliance and perform program management duties to support the Performance Work Statement (PWS) Section 3.0. Support MSFC’s goals for SHE [SO2] programs improvement, including Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and/or third-party certification. Provide routine support and guidance in managing workplace environmental factors to prevent sickness, impaired health, or discomfort among workers. Ensure facility compliance with OSHA regulations. Coordinate asbestos project sampling and analysis. Support reasonable accommodation activities and collaborate with the Industrial Safety Office to address potential hazards. Maintain close coordination with all OHS departments for service continuity. Manage site SDS systems, document worker exposure, and investigate and remediate workplace complaints. Review and recommend modifications to worksites based on industrial hygiene practices. Maintain and update industrial hygiene databases, regulatory compliance, and monitoring equipment. Develop and deliver training sessions, safety programs, and required documentation, while also participating in MSFC committees. Contribute to reports, maintain certification requirements, and provide guidance on respiratory protection equipment. Degree in IH or related field Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene Formal Training: IH, health physics, toxicology, industrial ventilation, IH management, and additional areas related to the field of IH 10 years technical experience in Environmental Health/IH 3 or more years in IH program management Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Training Preferred Qualifications Graduate degree in IH or related field Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
