SaaS-AI Start-Up Controller

ControllerReports to CFOBase salary up to $200K + meaningful EquityWe're a well-funded, high-growth SaaS company in the accounting and financial automation space, and we're hiring our first Controller. This isn't a seat-warmer role. You'll be building the accounting function from the ground up: insourcing processes, establishing controls, and putting the infrastructure in place that will carry us through our next stage of growth. If you're an Assistant Controller or Senior Accounting Manager ready for full ownership, this is the role.What You'll Build and OwnInsource and build out the core accounting function (GL, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close), establishing repeatable, scalable processes where many are nascent or outsourced today.Design and implement internal controls from scratch, building the compliance and audit-readiness infrastructure appropriate for a fast-scaling SaaS company.Own financial reporting: monthly, quarterly, and annual statements delivered accurately and on time, with variance analysis and commentary that supports CFO and board-level decision making.Lead external audits, manage tax filings, and own banking and lender relationships, building credibility with outside stakeholders as the company matures.Ensure GAAP compliance and ASC 606 revenue recognition accuracy across a subscription-based SaaS model, partnering with billing and contracts teams to keep revenue reporting clean.Monitor cash flow and working capital, supporting the CFO with the financial visibility needed to make confident operating decisions.What We're Looking ForCPA preferred6–10 years of progressive experience in accounting and financeSaaS company background; you understand subscription revenue modelsASC 606 fluency; you've handled multi-element SaaS contractsAudit prep experience; you've led or heavily supported an external auditERP / QuickBooks proficiencyProcess builder, not just a maintainer; you've built things from scratchComfortable with ambiguity and able to prioritize in a fast-moving environmentWhy This RoleYou won't be the fifth person to sit in this seat; you'll be the first.
