Salary commensurate with experience*\nOverview:\nLocation: Albany, NY - Hybrid\nSalary: $140,000 - $155,000\nWe are seeking a COBOL Developer who will support our NYS client. This role will be expected to support and enhance complex mainframe applications, with a strong focus on system analysis, production support, and knowledge transfer. The ideal candidate for this role will have deep expertise in COBOL-based mainframe development, database analysis, and debugging in production environments. Prior experience working within government systems, particularly large-scale Child Support Management Systems is highly desired.\n\nDuties:\nReview production systems to understand major technical components and relate them to business areas.\nUse Cobol to analyze routines, procedures, TIP screens, ECL, batch jobs and FTPs which make up discrete parts of the systems.\nAnalyze DMS and RDMS database structures, data dictionaries and source code for discrepancies or inaccuracies.\nDocument system specifications and solutions to facilitate knowledge transfer.\nMonitor and perform diagnostic/debugging activities on the mainframe.\nCoordinate project activities among other team members, users, and/or requestors.\nAct in advocacy role as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all relevant phases of the IES Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).\nWork closely with Architects and others on the applications development team to refine solution design.\nReport status of current tasks and outstanding issues to supervisor and project leads.\nMandatory Qualifications:\n7+ years of experience working on complex projects with 2 or more years in a leadership role as a Developer.\n7+ years of experience working directly with COBOL 74 and/or 85 programming on mainframes.\n5+ years of experience with system analysis and design, programming and unit and integrated testing on mainframes.\n7+ years of experience with Cobol routines, procedures, TIP screens, ECL, and batch jobs.\n5+ years of experience monitoring production work and performing error diagnostic/debugging activities in a mainframe environment.\nExperience creating and maintaining documentation related to designing, programming, performing code walk-throughs and testing in a mainframe environment.\nExperience in reviewing, translating and extracting business rules and process logic from COBOL code in a mainframe environment.\n5+ years of experience with RDMS and DMS database structures, data dictionaries and source code.\n5+ years of experience working in information technology within a government setting.\n5+ years of experience supporting Child Support Management System.\nAssociates degree in related field or combination of education and experience.\nCloud and Things complies with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding recruitment and hiring.
