This role involved overall lab(s)\narchitecture, design, and implementation. The Cellular Specialist Engineer creates strategic test plans\nthat ensure performance and stability of Wireless products in Charter’s network ensuring the highest\nlevels of customer and operational satisfaction. Technologies you will be supporting include, Wi-Fi\nRouters, Gateways, Access Points, Cable modems, Network switches, routers, Service Provider Wi-Fi\nrouters, and many other new technologies developed by key standards and collaboration committees\nyou are a member of. You will collaborate with Network Architects and Product Development on\nbusiness and technology requirements and assess vendor solutions to address the requirements. You\nwill work with Network Architects to create detailed test plans and certification curriculums, proof of\nconcept trials, and methodologies for analysis of performance criteria. You will also partner with\ntechnical operations staff on system design and configuration and training needs.\nEssential Functions Of The Position:\nActively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience\nParticipates in network planning, network architecture design and engineering\nIntegrates and schematically depicts communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software,\ntransmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations\nEvaluates new products, performs network problem resolution\nAssists in the development and documentation of technical standards\nDevelops and implements approved methods of procedure\nDesigns and establishes protocol compatibility standards, develops and implements network\nenhancements and makes recommendations for improvement\nWorks on projects/ systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning,\nconfiguration and optimization\nProvides escalated tier support across organizations and to third party vendors\nWorks on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead\nCoaches less experienced staff\nAdhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable\nKnow, understand and follow company policy\nPerform other duties as requested by supervisor\nPreferred Qualifications\nSkills / abilities and knowledge\nExcellent knowledge of 3GPP standards (GSM, UMTS, HSPA, LTE, 5G NR), 3GPP2 (1xRTT / EVDO) and/or OMA.\nShould have excellent knowledge with common mobile handset operating systems (Windows Mobile,\nAndroid and other Java-Linux platforms) and knowledge of UICC/SIM chipsets & modules relating to\nwireless devices Knowledge of RF or Network System Performance.\nExperience with handset manufacturers, network equipment vendors, and/or chipset vendors is a plus.\nExperience using protocol communications test equipment and tools (protocol analyzers, CDMA / LTE /5G NR system simulators, WiFi analyzers and packet sniffers).\nExperience in RF design, HFC Design, DOCSIS specifications 3.0/3.1 a plus.\nShould have excellent knowledge in M2M, In-Home Router industry standards and design/\nimplementation (IPv4 / IPv6, TR-069, IPsec, QoS, 802.11).\nShould know about various Network adjuncts and services i.e. AAA, Diameter, EAP, PDSN, LTE\nData, VoLTE, GRE, Soft GRE, L2TP, CAPWEP.\nUnderstanding and/or experience working with the following is a plus: - DLNA, UPnP, oneM2M\narchitecture - RRC, NAS, SIP, IMS, OSGI, and DHCP.\nMust possess excellent industry knowledge and theoretical understanding of IEEE 802.11 specifications\n(a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be, SISO, MIMO, MCS).\nExperience developing automation scripts utilizing TCL, PERL, and Python programming languages.\nExperience writing and developing detailed test cases and test plans\nExtensive hands-on networking experience (802.11 AP’s, Cable Gateways, Routers, Switches, etc.)\nExperience with network test equipment, such as Keysight, Ixia, Spirent, Fluke Networks, IBB, Spectrum\nAnalyzers, Site Survey Planning tools, and Traffic Generators.\nExperience developing automation utilizing SCPI, TCL and Python programming languages.\nMust possess expert skills and experience with desktop operating systems and applications (Windows,\nMAC, Unix/Linux).\nStrong work ethic with a desire to meet and exceed personal and business goals\nExpert level communication, documentation, teamwork skills\nSelf-motivated to take ownership of assigned projects and deliverables\nExperienced technical writing skills sufficient to produce white papers, test cases, test plans, design\ndocuments, and technical diagrams\nAbility to work both in a team and independently on assigned projects\nStrong documentation, follow-up, communication skills\nLearns and adapts to new technologies and methodologies.
