High School Facilities Technician IPrimary Purpose:To maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use is available at all times.Qualifications:Education/CertificationHigh School Diploma preferredDriving record that meets the requirements of the district's insurance carrierSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to read blueprintsAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to communicate effectively (verbally)Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance repair procedures.Ability to work independently.Ability to estimate materialsAbility to work alone with minimal supervisionPreferred Experience:Minimum of ten years' experience in commercial or educational maintenanceMajor Responsibilities & Duties:Demonstrate acceptable work habits including regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability and promptness.Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to handle a variety of repairs.Select materials necessary for the work.Be able to accurately complete standard shop computations related to dimensions of work and amount of materials needed for each project.Be able to effectively use a variety of hand tools and measuring instruments to resolve maintenance problems.Operate equipment and use tools following established safety procedures.Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.Maintain a clean and organized work area including upkeep on tools and equipment.Complete repairs as requested on work orders.Perform preventative maintenance as required.Perform any other duties that may be assigned.Primary Responsibilities & Duties Focused on Non-Athletic Areas of The Facility:Perform the PM duties necessary to maintain, in good repair, non-athletic building components and equipment.Diagnose, troubleshoot & repair electrical problems.Diagnosis and troubleshoot & repair plumbing problems.Perform preventative maintenance including changing lamps & ballast.Conduct routine preventative maintenance and troubleshoot & repair HVAC problems.Change filters, lubricate bearings and motors, check and adjust belt tension, replace belts, clean condensers and evaporator coils.Repair windows, furniture, door locks, closers, and hardware as necessary.Install or relocate marker boards, bulletin boards, maps, & projector screens.Inspect the interior and exterior of the building and the grounds, and perform maintenance and repairs as necessary.Secondary Responsibilities & Duties for All Areas of The Facility:Assist and perform, as necessary, the PM duties to maintain in good repair athletic building components and athletic building equipment.Assist and perform, as necessary, inspections, cleaning, grooming, and maintaining all artificial turf fields as assigned.Assist and perform, as necessary, inspections, diagnosing, and maintaining athletic building equipment as needed.Supervisory Duties: N/AEquipment Used:Multi metersAmp probePower sawsPower drillsTorchesShearsLaddersCFC machineFreon gaugesTemperature metersScaffoldsMan lifts (electric, hydraulic, gas)Fork liftsAssorted hand toolsField Grooming EquipmentGatorWorking Conditions:Mental Demands:Ability to readAbility to communicateAbility to maintain emotional control under stressAbility to understand oral and written instructionsPhysical Demands:Continuous heavy liftingContinuous carryingContinuous reaching above shoulder levelFrequent driving of vehiclesContinuous working with stairsContinuous climbing of rampsContinuous climbing of laddersFrequent climbing of scaffoldsContinuous walkingContinuous standingLimited sittingSensory Requirements :Significant hearingNear visionFar visionPeripheral visionColor discriminationDepth perceptionEnvironment:Subject to temperature extremesSubject to fumes, dust, solvents, and toxic chemicals/materialsMust work:with machinery with moving partsaround moving vehicleson laddersinside and outsideon slippery, uneven walking surfaces at heights up to 120 ft.This document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned, alternative methods of performing your duties, or skills that may be required.
