What You’ll DoPay ranges from approximately $59,000 to $85,000. Starting pay will be based on qualifications, education, experience, and location. Required Certification: Class II Water.Must meet requirement of OAC 3745-7-15 pertaining to OEPA Director approved contact hour required to renew certification.Works under general direction and requires advanced level knowledge of state and federal guidelines regarding water plant operations:Serves as assistant to treatment plant operation manager.Coordinates operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment (e.g., motors and controls, pumps and controls, blowers and controls, comminutors, air compressors, chemical feeders) used at water treatment plant.Trains maintenance staff and/or operators in proper operation and maintenance procedures.Inspects facilities and coordinates purchase of chemicals and parts.Troubleshoots, repairs and adjusts equipment.Reviews preventive maintenance programs.Inspects newly installed equipment.Instructs facility staff in chemical testing procedures and daily reporting preparation procedures.Reviews design drawings and specification for contract work.Meets with consultants to resolve construction or installation problems.Oversees and/or performs general maintenance at water treatment facility (e.g., tills seed beds, mows grass, paints buildings, plows snow).Performs operational modifications necessary in emergencies to meet EPA requirements.Attends annual training, meetings and/or serves on committees.Certificate of class at least equal to that required by water system or wastewater works classification pursuant to Rule 3745-7-02, Environmental Protection Agency; 12 mos. exp. as treatment plant operator in water &/or sewage treatment plant which included conducting routine laboratory tests on treatment plant flows; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development; valid drivers' license.
