The Technical Field Engineering Team supports both North and South Field Engineering and Field Communications workgroups in technical needs. Establish schedules for self and others, direct and coordinate assigned staff engaged in the test and commissioning, protection and controls maintenance, or repair of apparatus for substation and electric field systems. The primary reporting location is Westwood, MA. Will be required to travel throughout Eastern MA for field support.\nEssential Functions Field Engineering Technical Support (Network Customer work support, Equipment Testing Witnessing and approval).\nField Engineering and Communication’s Training Curriculum Development support.\nComponent Repair and R&D.\nResearching outstanding Off‑Schedules for work assignment to reduce the backlog.\nWork with the Union Field Engineer and Power System Technicians on infrequently‑performed work and new work practices, with Safety and Human Performance in mind.\nEquipment in‑service monitor – Settings review through metering (3VO, 3IO, Amps, Voltage, directional MW), CCVT degradation.\nLead / Support Technical Process Review (ISO‑NE OP‑24, PACT) and Technical Initiatives for Field Engineering department.\nLead interface with the Operational Compliance group on process development, Compliance process support (TD‑718, Archer Assignments) and / or regulatory initiatives affecting EMA Field Engineering and Field Communications.\nLead effective interface with related departments ((Substation Technical, P&C Engineering, Station Design Engineering) on unresolved maintenance, identified capital improvement plan, and local Spares strategy.\nLead training exercise on outage restoration scenarios.\nLead Open EMA Events with Follow‑though, driving implementation and closure.\nAssist and act as the technical lead responsible for the review of test and commissioning plans, test results, maintenance reports and apparatus analysis reports of substation and electric field systems.\nEngage test equipment manufacturers for repairs and calibrations.\nTrack test equipment, repairs, and calibrations to ensure equipment is ready for use.\nIdentify common or generic problems with test equipment, and institute or recommend appropriate corrective action or replacement programs.\nTrack and oversee IFC prints for construction and As Built prints received for deployment.\nSupport supervision with the coordination of technical training activities.\nDemonstrate efforts to achieve world‑class excellence regarding safe work practices and event‑free performance.\nAssure compliance with the Eversource safety manual and all company procedures.\nEnsure compliance with applicable regulatory and operational entities testing requirements and minimum performance requirements.\nProvide timely and accurate updates, oral and written, for successful completion of assigned work.\nKeep Supervision informed regarding status of all on‑going activities assigned.\nPromote teamwork among and between all members of the organization.\nRespond to emergencies and requests for support outside normal work hours.\nBe responsible for and available for On‑Call assignments.\nAssume the duties of the Supervisor during their absence or as assigned.\nCompetencies Build trusting relationships\nManage and develop people\nFoster teamwork and cross‑functional collaboration\nLead change\nCommunicate strategic visionCreate an engaged workforce\nFocus on the customer\nTake ownership & accountability\nQualifications Technical Knowledge/Skill: Electrical power engineering level knowledge preferably in protection and controls. Ability to continuously develop knowledge and understanding of safety methods, practices, procedures, and policies. Ability to combine theory with practical experience, determine facts, analyze information, make decisions and resolve problems. Ability to handle technical investigations regarding system events and mis‑operations of the electric grid. Strong computer skills and ability to operate a variety of software programs relating to databases, test equipment, and hardware configuration. Ability to develop a working knowledge of switching and tagging procedures. Ability to recommend future direction(s) on test equipment and test processes and procedures based on changing technology.\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or Electrical and Computer Engineering strongly preferred. Master’s degree is preferred.\nExperience: Eight (8) or more years of related experience.\nLicenses & Certifications: Valid Motor Vehicle Operator License is required. PE license is preferred.\nWorking Conditions Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required. Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary. Worker Type: Regular.
