The Software Test Engineer will assist with test case development, test software design and implementation, code review, hardware integration, debugging, and automation of testing activities.\nKey Responsibilities\nSupport development of automated test software, engineering tools, and software infrastructure.\nAssist with development and maintenance of software for automated test fixtures, laboratory equipment, and embedded test systems.\nDevelop scripts to automate programmable instruments like digital oscilloscopes, DC power supplies, function generators, and digital multimeters.\nUtilize industry-standard protocols and libraries including SCPI (Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments), VISA (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture), and PyVISA.\nCollaborate with hardware, test, and radiation engineers to support system validation and troubleshooting.\nParticipate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions.\nPractice software engineering best practices, including version control, testing, and documentation of code artifacts and test systems.\nQualifications\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.\nExperience with programming in C or C++ through coursework, personal projects, research, or internships.\nBasic understanding of software development principles and debugging techniques.\nFamiliarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers, or low-level software concepts.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary engineering team.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nPreferred Skills\n1-3 years of experience [FILL IN] in embedded system design, firmware development, electronics testing, and automation scripting.\nProficiency in Python or other scripting languages.\nExposure to communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, or USB.\nFamiliarity with embedded architectures and frameworks, such as STM32, Arduino, MSP430, PIC.\nExperience interfacing with embedded components through firmware, such as sensors, PMICs, transceivers, and memories (EEPROM, NOR Flash, SRAM).\nFamiliarity with various testing methodologies.\nProficient in designing test cases for verifying hardware functionality that were repeatable, auditable, and logged data for review.\nFamiliarity with Git or other version control systems.\nExperience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, or other laboratory equipment.\nInterest in aerospace, avionics, embedded systems, or high-reliability electronics.\nAdditional Requirements\nThis is an on-site role based in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area.\nMust be a U.S Person under EAR/ITAR regulations (U.S Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.)\nCompensation\nThe expected salary range for this position is $68,000 – $72,000 (Level 1) or $90,000 – $115,000 (Level 2).
