Join our team to start your career in social services while learning from the best experts in the field.\n\nThe Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that people supported have the support and resources necessary to live meaningful lives, and that they align with their needs and aspirations within their respective program and communities. He/she/they will monitor and ensure active adherence to the all plans for each person supported with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The Shift Supervisor will ensure proper supports are in place and necessary resources are made available to Direct Support Professionals to ensure proper adherence to person supported scheduled of activities. The Shift Supervisor serves as a role model to staff and people supported and will help to develop best practices to support both the person supported and Direct Support Professional.\nThis opportunity is available at our program located on East 34th St in Brooklyn. The salary is $18 per hour.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nPerson Centered Planning\nEnsures that a person-centered focus is used to provide care and support by all staff who work within the program actively seeking out different approaches.\nPromotes the independence and self-determination of individuals, utilizing person-centered practices that focus on the individuals’ strengths and preferences while simultaneously addressing their needs.\nPromotes participation in activities of meaningful daily living, such as vocation, recreation, volunteerism, engagement.\nEnsures a positive climate that promotes respect and dignity for people supported.\nProvides opportunities for people support to personalize their environment, schedule and experiences in program.\nSupports the person’s independence, choice and outcomes.\nProvides prompt, efficient, and personalized support to meet requirements, requests, and concerns.\nAdditional responsibilities as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Vice President of Day Services or designee.\nSupports the mission, vision, values of S:US.\n\nRegulatory\nProvide habilitation services to each client as prescribed in their service plans (CFA, Individual Service plan, Habilitation plan).\nResponsible for overall functioning of the facility during the absence of the Program Director.\nIn the absence of the Program Director, supervises and instructs all Direct Support Professionals on shift.\nResponsible for people supported and agency funds and expenditures during shift (petty cash, recreation etc.).\nEnsures coverage of a shift when a Direct Support Professional is absent.\nActs as a functioning member of the staff, meeting the needs of the people supported\nResponsible for the physical condition of the program including agency vehicles; ensuring that they are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.\nParticipates in staff meetings, supervisors’ workshops, interdisciplinary team (IDT) and committee meetings.\nChannels approved information pertaining to staff and agency to Program Specialists.\nProvides supervisory counseling and discipline to Direct Support Professionals as necessary\nIdentifies facility needs and makes the relevant staff aware.\nEnsure optimal utilization of the resources available in order to achieve efficiencies.\n\nQuality Improvement\nCarries out policies and procedures of SUS, in accordance with OPWDD and other funding sources.\nReports all incidents, ensuring consistent adherence to OPWDD and agency policies\nAssesses and monitors staff productivity on an ongoing basis.\nResponds appropriately to community, family and agency contacts.\nMaintains, develops and supports the person support to staff assignment\nMeets with Program Director on a regular basis to discuss pertinent shift and Direct Support Professional’s issues and successes.\nMonitors Direct Support Professional’s time sheets on an as-needed basis.\nEnsure fire drill completion on shift.\n\nQualifications:\nREQUIREMENTS\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE\nHigh School Diploma or approved equivalent.\nMinimum of 2-3 years’ experience in Intellectual Disabilities/IDD or related field\nEffective written and oral communication skills.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS\nSCIP-R; CPR & First Aid is required.\nAMAP certification is required\nNote: S:US will provide on-the-job training for such certifications.\n\nCompany Overview:\n.\nSUS IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER\n\nJoin a team of employees who cares about the wellbeing of others.
