P2’s ingredients serve the personal care and fragrance markets, delivering performance and sustainability to global customers.As P2 Science continues to expand its ingredient portfolio, we are seeking an Associate Quality Control chemist to support the team located at P2 Science's Naugatuck production facility.Position Summary - Associate Quality Control Chemist:The Associate Quality Control Chemist provides analytical support by preparing, testing, and analyzing QC samples in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. This role follows detailed product specifications and standard procedures to ensure product quality meets established standards, while maintaining accurate and compliant documentation.This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize competing requests, and comfort working in a structured, process-driven lab environment.Work Schedule:This role operates on a morning shift: 5:30 AM – 1:30 PM ET, Monday through Friday.Occasional weekend work may be required based on production needs. As operations scale, additional coverage, and flexibility may be required.What You'll Do:Perform day-to-day routine analysis of in-process and final product samples according to established product specificationsExecute all required tests as outlined in work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs)Accurately document, review, and submit test results for approval in compliance with internal and regulatory standardsPrioritize and manage multiple incoming samples, including adjusting workflow based on shifting production prioritiesCollaborate closely with the Lead QC Chemist and QC/Analytical Chemistry leadership to support lab operations and maintenanceAssist with deviation investigations, OOS (Out of Specification) investigations, and change control documentationPerform calibration, basic troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation; support preventive maintenance schedulingMaintain complete, accurate, and traceable lab documentation in accordance with GMP/ISO standardsKeep a detailed and organized lab notebookComplete all required training on time (internal and external)Work Environment & Expectations:Work is conducted in a GMP/ISO-regulated laboratory environment, requiring strict adherence to documented proceduresTesting demands may vary daily; candidates must be comfortable working with unpredictable sample flow and adapting quicklyRole requires the ability to stay organized, prioritize effectively, and perform under time-sensitive production demandsWork may occasionally extend beyond standard hours if production runs require extended monitoring (infrequent)Safety Responsibilities:Comply with all company safety policies and OSHA regulationsFollow proper handling, storage, and disposal procedures for chemicals and laboratory wasteAdhere to ISO 9001:2015 and Food Safety 22000 standards, as well as all internal safety requirementsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Experience or familiarity with analytical instrumentation such as GC, HPLC, DSC, Viscometer, Refractometer, Tensiometer, UV-Vis, IR, Karl Fischer, titration, pH meter, and balancesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities effectivelyComfortable working in a structured, compliance-driven environmentProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to lift up to 50 lbsWillingness to work occasional overtime or weekends as neededEducation and Experience:B.S. in Chemistry or related field requiredEntry-level candidates welcome; prior lab experience (academic or industry, including organic or general chemistry labs) is strongly preferredFamiliarity with GMP or ISO standards is a plus, but not requiredWhy Join P2 ScienceWork with proprietary, differentiated green chemistryHigh level of ownership and autonomyDirect impact on product development and commercial successCollaborative, fast-moving, and mission-driven team environmentOpportunity to shape a technology pipeline from the ground upConnecticut Innovations and its portfolio companies are equal opportunity employers.
