Visit us at www.acuityinc.com.Work location:This position requires on-site presence in Decatur, GA, following a hybrid work model.Job SummaryThe Manual Test Engineer is responsible for executing functional, integration, and regression testing through manual test methods to validate product quality and user experience. This role ensures that hardware, firmware, software, and control systems meet defined functional and usability requirements prior to product release. The engineer works closely with Engineering, Product Management, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Customer Support to support new product development (NPD) and ongoing product quality initiatives.Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)Manual Testing & Validation ExecutionExecute manual functional, integration, and regression testing across lighting products and platformsValidate end-to-end system behavior from a user and customer perspectivePerform detailed test case execution on luminaires, LED drivers, sensors, controls, firmware, and software interfacesDevelop, review, and execute manual test cases based on system requirements and use casesLog, track, and clearly document defects, observations, and validation resultsTest Planning & DocumentationAnalyze requirements and translate them into structured manual test cases and proceduresMaintain test plans, test cases, and execution reportsEnsure traceability between requirements, test cases, and defectsProvide clear feedback on product quality and usabilityTest Environment & SetupSupport setup and maintenance of test environments simulating real-world usageExecute tests across multiple configurations and conditionsAssist with hardware setup and configurationsDefect Tracking & TroubleshootingIdentify, document, and track defects using toolsReproduce issues with clear steps and logsPerform basic troubleshootingValidate fixes and perform regression testingCross-Functional CollaborationCollaborate with engineering teams to resolve issuesProvide test status updates and quality insightsValidate customer workflows and scenariosParticipate in reviewsContinuous ImprovementImprove manual testing processes and efficiencyIdentify reusable and optimized test casesSupport transition to automationFollow QA best practicesSkills and Minimum Experience RequiredBachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field2–4 years of manual testing or QA experienceHands-on experience with test case executionStrong knowledge of testing fundamentalsAbility to document test results clearlyGood analytical and troubleshooting skillsStrong communication skillsPreferred Skills and ExperienceExperience with electromechanical or embedded systemsFamiliarity with firmware/software interactionExperience with Jira or Azure DevOpsBasic understanding of automationExperience in lighting or IoT systemsExperience supporting NPD or manufacturing
