This position has a key role in meeting our production needs and working as a team with leading others to operate as efficiently as possible. The Lead Manufacturing Operator position is a key room support for the shift supervisor, answering questions, performing inspections, material pulls and insuring production levels are maintained.\n\nPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\n\nOperates Machinery:\nSet-up machine to machine specifications and best practices to meet production specifications\nResponsible to convert the correct materials to work order specifications\nResponsible for execution of trials and recording of results as needed\nEnsure that quality documents are completed and legible at appropriate stages of production\nTrain Manufacturing Associates using the passport program\nPerform first and final inspections\nInspect and record part verification data\nMakes recommendations related to training and performance while conducting ongoing training\nCoverage for supervisor or manufacturing operators when out\nResolve all nonconforming material and product immediately, while following correct procedures for identification, quarantine where necessary, and assist in disposition\nCompleted Web’s Training Passport program for Lead Manufacturing Operator role\n\nSafety and Environmental Compliance:\nComplies with safety rules and standards\nImmediately reports any unsafe conditions to the shift supervisor, group lead or manager\nReports any concerns of potentially harmful environmental practices to the Shift Supervisor and/or Management\nEnsure compliance with standard work and other applicable manufacturing standards\nIdentifies and communicates near misses and safety incidents\n\nManage Production Schedule:\nRun any production line as required\nSupport initiatives from other departments; e.g. Quality, Engineering, Customer Care etc\nEnsure compliance with production schedule and communicate when output targets are not met\nSupport material handling as required\nManage downtime effectively (efficient changeovers / start-ups)\n\nProcess Improvement, and Maintenance:\nServes as the floor-level Continuous Improvement leader, driving improvements on a daily basis as part of standard work processes\nSupport continuous improvement projects to address downtime and inefficiencies\nIdentify and communicate areas for Kaizen or other continuous improvement initiative\nMaximize through-put and uptime\nIdentify and communicate maintenance issues with the production lines (enter work orders)\nTroubleshoot machines as required, request support for issues identified\nSupport troubleshooting of various areas of the facility\nAssist maintenance with line maintenance as required (e.g. winder PMs , die changes etc.)\nAssists in the set-up and changes to gears, lifts and change shafts as needed\n\nTraining:\nKeep passport up to date and obtain sign-offs when competent\nProvide exemplary training\nSign off on passports\nAssist in improving our training procedures\nTrain other employees and sign off passports\n\nVisual Factory Goal:\nKeep the factory “customer ready” at all times\nManage all point of use storage systems and ensure they are properly filled\nAssist in managing all Kanban’s\n\nEmployee Ownership Behaviors:\nLead by example in demonstrating the following;\nDependable: Behaves in a sensible way and does what they say and leads by example\nJudgement: Uses Good Judgement by considering safety implications, decision making, using KT and other tools to drive sound decisions\nCan Do Mentality: Is able to step in to situation and mentor how to accomplish task and demonstrates this behavior by using know LEAN, Problem Solving and methodical learned tools\n\nCommunication Skills:\nIs a good communicator (verbally, written to be well equipped with the tools to communicate effectively and convey information so that is received and understood\nMakes Sound Decisions. Is able to work cooperatively as a member of a group to achieve a common goal\nStrong Delegator. Ability to position resources in areas that will be beneficial to production while complying with safety and proper training\nTeam Player.
