Manufacturing Controls Engineer

DescriptionIdentify, develop, install and support manufacturing systems and applications. Provide engineering design, programming, guidance and support for industrial control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human machine interfaces, VFDs, fieldbuses and supervisor control and data acquisition systems. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire division in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1st strategy. Provide leadership that embodies our 7 Kroger Manufacturing High Performance Work System principles. Up to 50% travel is expected for this role.Responsibilities Specify, design and program PLC-based control systems for processing, machinery and automationProvide guidance and recommendations for process instrumentation, field-devices, and drivesProvide technical support on plant projects related to automation and adherence to standards and specificationsProvide specification, programming and/or configuration of process instrumentationGenerate and maintain electrical schematics, network drawings, automation programs and configuration filesSupport system integrators, original equipment manufacturers, project engineers and the manufacturing plants in the design, implementation and start-up assistance of controls and automation projectsWork with project and plant engineers to develop capital appropriationsReview all system and network access policies to ensure compliance with corporate audit standardsSupport projects for system integration firms; assist plants in determining requirements and assessing value of proposed servicesProvide management with periodic status reportsSupport the hiring and training of plant technical resourcesFollow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe, quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirementsAccountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality PrinciplesMust be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodationMust be able to work around ingredients and/or finished products known to contain food allergensMinimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree engineering or technology4+ years of progressive hands on experience with industrial controlsExcellent oral/written communication skillsFluent in Microsoft Product Suite, Autodesk, AutoCAD, and Windows 10Self-directed, ability to execute projects with minimal supervisionDesiredAny experience with PLC and HMI program development, including integration of Ethernet based drives and field-devicesAny experience developing, implementing and starting up process control projectsAny experience developing Rockwell based control systems including but not limited to Logix PLCs, PanelView, PF VFDs, Kinetics, and EthernetIPAny experience architecting and configuring control systems for automatic device configuration and replacement
