This role demands hands-on expertise in cloud-native engineering, automation of document workflows, and integration of advanced data extraction technologies. You will be instrumental in scaling and optimizing our platform, working alongside engineering leads and business stakeholders to deliver robust, production-grade solutions.\nThis position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment and is ready to take ownership of complex systems, drive technical excellence, and contribute to strategic platform evolution.\nThis role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).\nKey Responsibilities:\nEngineer and maintain cloud-native solutions using AWS services and third-party vendor platforms.\nDevelop and optimize automated workflows for document ingestion, classification, extraction, and validation.\nIntegrate components with enterprise systems, ensuring seamless data flow and operational reliability.\nLead performance tuning and cost optimization efforts across cloud infrastructure.\nImplement monitoring, alerting, and fault-tolerant mechanisms to ensure platform resilience.\nCollaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and architects to align capabilities with business goals.\nAuthor and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and operational runbooks.\nEvaluate emerging technologies and contribute to platform roadmap discussions.\nQualifications:\nRequired\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.\n5+ years of experience in cloud engineering.\nStrong programming skills in Python and .NET/Java with experience building scalable backend services.\nDeep expertise in AWS services (e.g., Lambda, S3, Step Functions, ECS, IAM).\nExposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).\nProven ability to troubleshoot complex systems and implement resilient cloud architectures.\nExcellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.\nPreferred\nExperience with GenAI-powered Intelligent Document Processing platforms (e.g., MEA, Azure Form Recognizer).\nHands-on experience with OCR, NLP, and machine learning technologies in production environments.\nProficiency with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).\nAWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, Developer, SysOps).\nFamiliarity with insurance-specific document formats (e.g., SOVs, financial statements).\nCandidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.\nCompensation\nThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
