This position performs automated and manual testing on donor blood samples to ensure the safety, potency and purity of the blood supply as required by the regulatory agencies. Coordinates and supervises training assisting in scheduling, planning, designing, developing, implementing, and measuring effectiveness of technical training and education programs.\n\nJob Description\n\nPRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nPerforms all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.\nAssures quality customer service to all customers.\nMaintains acceptable attendance and punctuality per the absence policy.\nCoordinates and delivers technical training (e.g., SOPs, technical job skills and competency/proficiency evaluations). Ensures appropriate time is provided for training and provides any necessary follow up.\nMay assist with coordination of workflow, training and mentoring of trainees.\nMonitors staff compliance to SOP, FDA and AABB standards; takes appropriate corrective action or reports problems to the Manager or Director. Reports training activities and progress to management\nReviews employee training records to ensure accuracy and completion. Maintains records in the learning management system.\nAssists Training Department personnel with development and updating technical skill training programs, monitors trainee progress, advises on placement, and oversees follow-up training.\nAssists in the development and analysis of local training needs assessments.\nInterfaces with Quality Management/Regulatory Affairs for training audits.\nRemains competent in laboratory testing.\nPerforms donor sample testing in compliance with regulatory requirements. Recognizes and identifies testing irregularities, equipment problems, errors and other potential problems that may adversely affect test performance or results. Troubleshoots and implements corrective actions. Reports problems to management.\nMaintains awareness and follows all safety procedures as outlined by the organization.\nMaintains knowledge of training methods and adult learning principles to serve as a resource for the department.\nEvaluates the effectiveness of training programs/materials and makes suggestions for changes.\nProvides feedback to employees on their progress during the training phase. Works with the department supervisor to provide the feedback and adjustments to training plans for individuals as needed.\nPerforms all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.\n\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n\nEducation: Bachelor's in related area required, or science related degree where education and training meet CFR 493.1489.\nDemonstrated senior level proficiency on multiple platforms/benches, as documented on the competency assessment,\nTrained to perform high level and complex troubleshooting on multiple platforms/benches\nKnowledge of technical blood banking or pharmaceutical activities and an understanding of federal, state, and local regulations affecting technical activities\nKnowledge of GMP, quality management theory and practices.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:\n\nTwo years’ relevant experience\nSix years’ experience (with certification or seven years without) working in clinical or GMP laboratory environment preferred. (Florida only)\nMust satisfy CLIA requirements for High Complexity Testing preferred. (Florida only)\nAppropriate state licensure and/or certificate, where applicable, preferred. (Florida only)\nMT, ASCP (or equivalent) Specialty certification preferred. (Florida only)\nKnowledge of training development and implementation\n\nSKILLS & ABILITIES:\n\nMust possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.\nMust be able to maintain confidentiality.\nAbility to work in a team environment and participate as an active team member.\nMust have proficient computer skills.\nEffective oral and written communication skills.\nAble to organize, prioritize, and execute a variable workload and multiple priorities.\n\nPHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:\n\n5+ hours per shift: Sitting, Standing Handling.
