Engineering Specialist – Software (Embedded Systems)Sterling Heights, MI$71–$75/hourPosition OverviewSeeking an Engineering Software Specialist to support development and integration of vehicle electronic and embedded systems . This role focuses on OS/BSP development, embedded software, and hardware/software integration for ground combat vehicle platforms .Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and integrate embedded software and firmwareSupport OS/BSP development (Linux, VxWorks, RTOS)Perform software requirements analysis, design, and codingConduct unit, functional, and integration testingDebug and troubleshoot across multiple test phasesDevelop software releases and configuration managementSupport hardware/software integration and system validationParticipate in Agile/Scrum development processesCollaborate with Systems Engineering, QA, and Program teamsRequired Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field5–7+ years of relevant experienceKey SkillsProgramming: C, C++, C#, Java, PythonEmbedded systems & BSP developmentOS experience: Linux, VxWorks, RTOS, virtualizationTools: Git, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, Eclipse, GCC, GDBExperience with Yocto or Linux build systemsKnowledge of network & serial protocols (CAN, TCP/IP, UDP, RS-232/422)Preferred ExperienceLinux device drivers, bootloaders, memory mapsHypervisors (Type I/II)Secure systems (SELinux, secure boot, encryption)Vehicle network architectures (GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, FACE)Experience with ground combat vehiclesAdditional RequirementsMust be eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearanceU.S. Citizenship requiredAbility to work onsite 100%Ability to work around military vehicles (ASR requirements may apply)Occasional overtime as neededWork EnvironmentOnsite – Sterling Heights, MIMix of lab, prototype shop, manufacturing, and office settingsWhy Join CPI?For over 40 years, Contract Professionals, Inc.
