In this role, you will be responsible for performing and planning management and administration of technology in area of specialty and working with team members to ensure technology is effectively supporting enterprise systems. This role also shares knowledge and provides mentoring to other IT associates.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nEssential Functions\n\nAnalyzes existing database systems and recommends improvements and tunes and optimizes database objects when necessary\nConfigures and administers enterprise SQL Server environments\nCollaborates with supervisors and security champions to establish database security structures and ensure SOX compliance\nCreates/maintains database access systems including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers\nAdministers database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network\nProvides 24x7 on-call support\nProvides significant contributions to defining team roadmap and priorities\nDevelops reliable solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity\nDemonstrates broad understanding of Garmin's business model, including Engineering, Operations, Finance, Sales, and Marketing\nMentors and guides less-experienced Database Administrators\nResearches new technologies and proposes cost effective solutions\nLeads major incident troubleshooting involving multiple disciplines\nProvides innovation within the area of expertise\nFacilitates team discussions and meetings\nRecognized as an expert in the assigned discipline at Garmin and applies extensive technical expertise and analysis to initiatives\nContributes input to broader technology solutions outside of discipline\nServes as a leader of change\nDemonstrates professional maturity through giving and receiving constructive feedback\nAddresses conflict effectively without appreciable oversight\nCoordinates department level non-project changes\nQualifications:\n\nBasic Qualifications\n\nBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another related field AND a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience\nProficient with SQL Server (up though 2025)\nProficient with performing upgrades of SQL Server and troubleshooting performance issues\nProficient with SQL Server Always On\nProficient with OS migrations related to Windows\nExperience with custom scripting, ideally Linux\nDemonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively\nStrong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting\nConsistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization\n\nDesired Qualifications\n\nMySQL database, Linux and Shell script\nExperience with automation, especially with Windows and SQL Server OS Patching\nPrevious experience working in a team environment\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
