Guided by our commitment to partnership, precision, and performance, we deliver the scalable solutions and technical excellence our customers depend on-today and into the future.\n\nPrecise Systems seeks a Materials Science Engineer to design, develop, and execute complex mechanical and environmental survivability test programs for naval and defense-related systems with U.S. Navy.\n\nThis role requires in-person support.\n\nDuties\n\nDesign, develop, and execute complex mechanical and environmental survivability test programs for naval and defense-related systems\n\nPlan and conduct testing using servo-hydraulic, electro‑mechanical, and other test systems\n\nDevelop test methodologies, instrumentation plans, procedures, and data acquisition strategies to support one‑off testing\n\nAnalyze test results and provide technical assessments, recommendations, and formal reports\n\nWork closely with Government, military, contractor, and academic partners to support research and development efforts\n\nSupport system qualification, technology maturation, and performance validation activities\n\nAssist in the planning, management, and execution of research and test programs from concept through completion\n\nTroubleshoot test equipment, instrumentation, and system performance issues\n\nContribute to technical proposals, project planning, and program execution efforts\n\nRequired Education\n\nBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry or a related technical field; with dissertation or thesis work related to experimental focused research project, such as in fatigue or fracture mechanics.\n\nRequired Experience\n\nFour (4) years’ experience in an engineering materials testing, development, design, or evaluation environment\n\nExperience designing and conducting mechanical, structural, corrosion, vibration, fatigue, durability, or survivability testing\n\nFamiliarity with servo-hydraulic test systems and associated instrumentation\n\nExperience with data acquisition systems, sensors, stress‑strain measurement, accelerometers, and test automation\n\nExperience supporting government research, defense acquisition, or technology development programs\n\nAbility to analyze complex technical data and communicate results effectively through reports and presentations\n\nExperience leading projects or coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams is a plus.\n\nDesired Experience\n\nUnderstanding fundamental metallurgical or materials science principles and their influence on material properties\n\nExperience with and knowledge of standard fatigue testing methods, fracture testing methods, stress‑ and strain‑life approaches to fatigue for uniaxial and multiaxial cases, damage tolerance methods, durability and life assessment methodologies\n\nFamiliarity with hydraulic test equipment and control software, such as MTS Systems\n\nThis includes actuators, load cells, extensometers, operating in load, strain or displacement control, hydraulic pump operation and maintenance\n\nExperience with SEM fractography and other electron microscopy\n\nExperience utilizes basic metallography tools and procedures\n\nExperience with basic use of chemistry laboratory\n\nResults focused and willingness to take ownership and responsibility for project objectives and management\n\nMust be comfortable working in a collaborative environment with subject matter experts of various disciplines\n\nCreative self‑starter with hands‑on bench experience\n\nStrong written, listening and communication skills\n\nSecurity Clearance\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
