To support progress across our industry, we provide state-of-the-art components and vertically integrated infrastructure for others to build on via Science Foundry.\r\nWe seek a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing team. This role will own all layers of the technical stack that powers our breakthrough research, development, and production operations, from physical hardware deployment to application-layer automation. You'll work with engineers and scientists across the company to build out infrastructure that meets the demanding requirements of the healthcare industry while enabling rapid innovation.\r\nRole responsibilities\r\nDesign and implement infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, Docker) for our mostly on-prem, ~20% cloud environment\r\nBuild and manage core infrastructure: Kubernetes clusters, Ceph distributed storage, physical servers, and networking systems spanning all stages of R&D through production\r\nDevelop and maintain automation tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and logging/monitoring systems to reduce manual operations and increase reliability across the org\r\nImplement security best practices across all infrastructure layers (access controls, data protection, audit compliance)\r\nTranslate regulatory requirements into simple, robust technical implementations\r\nKey qualifications\r\n7+ years in DevOps engineering\r\nStrong software engineering fundamentals with a track record of building and maintaining critical tools\r\nExpert-level Linux administration (Ubuntu preferred) in production environments\r\nHands-on experience with:\r\nInfrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and configuration management (Ansible)\r\nContainer orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)\r\nNetworking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, DNS, VPN)\r\nSecurity practices (SSL/TLS, SSH, encryption, LDAP)\r\nDistributed storage systems (Ceph)\r\nExperience building and managing physical infrastructure in on-prem or hybrid environments\r\nPreferred qualifications\r\nHealthcare or regulated industry experience (medical/laboratory systems, production lines, aerospace)\r\nMonitoring stack experience (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki)\r\nSalary/Pay Range\r\nScience is required under California law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on the indicated salary band. The base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000 - $220,000 annually + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
