This position is foundational to the reliability of exhibition and AV operations. Success is measured not just by uptime, but by the engineer’s ability to make complex systems understandable, defensible, and stable—so that creative, educational, and visitor‑facing experiences can operate reliably at scale.\n\nCharacteristics we seek:\n\nHigh energy and motivation to be fully engaged\n\nOUTSTANDING oral (in person/phone) and written communication skills, including an ability to deal with people at various levels, from technician- to vendor to executive with strong ability to build rapport and relationships\n\nHigh level of organization and project management skills\n\nTremendous attention to detail\n\nAbility to weigh a number of options and provide the most efficient solution\n\nWhat experience you need:\nRecent and relevant experience with the following products/technologies:\n\nDeep hands‑on experience with Cisco switching and enterprise network design.\n\nStrong understanding of AV‑over‑IP networking concepts, including real‑time UDP traffic, multicast vs. unicast behavior, and broadcast containment.\n\nDemonstrated expertise with packet‑level analysis and evidence‑driven troubleshooting.\n\nExperience supporting mission‑critical AV environments (museums, broadcast, performance venues, or similar).\n\nAbility to translate between AV, IT, and security stakeholders and prevent vendor blame cycles through factual analysis.\n\nExperience with QSC Q‑SYS, ETC lighting networks, 7thSense Media Servers, BrightSign/Roku, Showmaster and other exhibit technologies\n\nExperience developing technical documentation, including SLDC documents, high‑level architectures, and as‑builts\n\nWhat you will do with the experience you bring from above:\n\nConduct AV and exhibition network engineering tasks\n\nComplete advanced troubleshooting and incident support\n\nConduct network security and hardening tasks\n\nPerform monitoring, observability and reliability actions\n\nImplement infrastructure and lifecycle replacement projects, supporting both compliance and technical deliverables\n\nProvide support for wireless and external networks\n\nDevelop documentation and effect knowledge transfer\n\nCollaborate with internal and vendor teams\n\nMinimum training/certifications:\n\nBS Degree (desired)\n\nClearance Requirements\nAbility to pass a corporate and Federal background check. Previous Federal Agency check (or higher) clearance preferred.\n\nOther\nWeekend and after‑hours work may be required by special arrangement.\n\nWhere you will do it\nYou will be based out of one location in Washington, D.C.
