The position requires a highly hands-on “player-coach” leader capable of balancing strategic oversight with day-to-day accounting execution and operational coordination.The Controller will report jointly to the VP of Airport Operations and the CFO and will supervise the local finance and accounting team.Core ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Accounting OversightLead and oversee month-end and year-end financial close processes across multiple California operating entitiesReview, reconcile, and validate financial statements and supporting schedulesEnsure accuracy of general ledger activity, accruals, amortization, fixed assets, lease accounting, and intercompany balancesValidate IFRS lease accounting calculations and support dual IFRS/US GAAP reporting requirements where applicableOversee accounting for operational expenses, entity cross-charges, and intercompany allocationsEnsure proper accounting treatment and compliance with company policies and reporting standardsOperational Finance LeadershipCoordinate closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Warehouse, HR, Compliance, Loss Prevention, and HQ Finance teamsSupport operational management through financial analysis, reporting validation, and process oversightMaintain strong ownership of accounting processes within ERP and reporting systemsSupport implementation, integration, and continuous improvement of financial and operational systemsInternal Controls & ComplianceMaintain strong internal accounting controls and process disciplineSupport external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting processesCoordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and internal stakeholdersEnsure timely reconciliation of bank accounts, intercompany balances, and entity-level reportingTeam LeadershipLead, mentor, and organize a small but high-impact accounting and finance teamEstablish clear processes, accountability, and operational disciplineDevelop team capabilities and support succession planning and internal growthPreferred Candidate ProfileStrong experience within retail, luxury retail, travel retail, airport retail, distribution, or multi-entity operational environmentsProven experience leading accounting operations across multiple legal entitiesStrong operational accounting and financial reporting backgroundPrior experience managing small but highly functional finance teamsComfortable operating in fast-paced and evolving environmentsStrong understanding of ERP systems, financial process ownership, and reporting structuresTechnical ExperiencePreferred experience with:SAP Business OneWarehouse Management Systems (WMS)POS-integrated accounting environmentsPower BI or operational reporting platformsMulti-entity accounting structuresIFRS and/or US GAAP environmentsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA or equivalent certification preferred but not mandatory7–12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experiencePrior audit experience is a plusEnglish fluency requiredSpanish and/or Mandarin considered an advantageIdeal Work StyleHands-on and operationally engagedDetail-oriented with strong process disciplineStrong communicator across operational and executive teamsAble to balance strategic priorities with executionComfortable working cross-functionally within international organizationsBenefitsDay One Health Benefits401k Plan ContributionsPaid Time OffPaid HolidaysParking ReimbursementEmployee DiscountsCompensationThe salary range for this position is $140,000-$160,000.
