Are you ready for an exciting new opportunity?\n\nWe're always searching for amazing people!\n\nJob Openings\nLocation: Cincinnati, OH\n\nJob Id: 1889\n\n# of Openings: 1\n\nAs a Sr. Structural Engineer, you will work with Mechanical Project Engineers to specify designs for platforms, equipment support structures, floor supports, and hanging conveyor supports including in seismic zones. You will work with rack suppliers to specify storage racking and pick modules and review / evaluate bids from suppliers. You will also be responsible for putting together system permitting packages with the support of the Mechanical Project Engineer and Project Manager. Additional time will be spent working with Product Development to analyze and design new connections and supports.\n\nDuties/Responsibilities\n\nLead the design and layout of floor supported and hanging conveyor support systems for material handling projects. Creatively design support structures to minimize cost (of both material and installation), maximize available free floor space for customer operations, and to ensure equipment access for maintenance (working with project engineering).\n\nAssist in the specification and design of racking, pick modules, platforms, and support structures within material handling projects.\n\nCalculate support point loads for a conveyor system using structural finite element analysis software.\n\nGenerate bills of material for complex ceiling supported (hanging) and floor supported systems.\n\nPrepare layout and detail drawing packages for Mechanical Installation that specify how supports and bracing are to be installed.\n\nGenerate permit drawing and calculation packages, which include support, anchor, and bracing schedules, to submit to local jurisdictions for project permitting.\n\nTravel to active job sites to clarify details, answer questions, and help resolve issues with the installation of Trew’s material handling equipment.\n\nDefine and document standards, processes, and work instructions.\n\nLead the continued development of automated tools used for support design.\n\nAssist Product Development with the design and analysis of the Trew conveyor support product line.\n\nEnsure thorough record keeping of requirements, design decisions, specifications and calculations.\n\nParticipate in and lead design reviews related to the structural design of a system, and generate notes to be distributed to the project team.\n\nRequired Skills/ Abilities\n\nGreat oral and written communication skills\n\nProficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)\n\nExperienced knowledge of drafting software (AutoCAD, Navisworks)\n\nAbility to generate structural calculations of pinned connections\n\nAbility to multitask, prioritize, define schedule, and manage time efficiently\n\nHighly motivated, ambitious, and attentive to detail\n\nDesired Skills:\n\nExperienced knowledge of structural finite element analysis and design software (Staad.Pro or similar)\n\nExperience with building information modeling software (BIM360 or similar)\n\nBachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field\n\n10+ years of related experience, preferably in the material handling industry\n\nLicensed PE\n\nPhysical Requirements\nRequired to stand, walk and sit; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms for the use of tools to assemble heavy equipment. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 50 pounds.
