The workstation will be a key tool used to support mission critical teams across Grainger’s business. The work will require collaboration with other full stack engineers, data engineers and machine learning engineers. We are expecting around 40/60 split between front end/back end work for this position.\n\nYou will report to the Senior Manager, Product Engineering.\n\nYou Will\nDive into different layers of our technology stack to build out workstation using technologies like:\nReact\nNext.js\nExpress\nRedux\nTypeScript\nJest\nDocker\nKubernetes\nJava\nSpring boot\nPostgreSQL\nRedis\nData Bricks\nAWS cloud services (S3, EKS, ect)\nCollaboratively build the front and back-end components of the systems\nSupport the systems you build as part of our on-call rotation\nBe open to pair programming and continuously experimenting with ways of working to improve\nDevelop functionality with speed at high quality\nHelp lead team in delivering high-quality, maintainable software with a focus on using product engineering sensible defaults to enable continuous delivery\nContribute to continuous learning on your team culture by leading technical knowledge sharing sessions with latest technological features and engineering practices\nBuild products that delight our users and have empathy for the problems they are trying to solve\nMaintain software in production with demonstrated ability to triage and quickly resolve issues\n\nYou Have\nAn interest in data and AI algorithms\n5 years of experience building mission critical systems as a full stack engineer.\nA deep understanding of REST and HTTP and how to build robust APIs.\nUnderstanding of distributed system design and experience building production grade distributed systems.\nUnderstanding of producer/consumer design patterns and messaging frameworks like Kafka\nBuilt software that runs in the cloud, such as AWS or Google cloud and understand cloud native design patterns.\nSome experience with CI/CD pipelines and have opinions on what makes a good pipeline\nExperience with production support and observability\nA belief that quality is everyone’s responsibility and hold opinions on how to validate and harden software systems.\nAutomated testing\nInversifyJS experience is a plus\nSOLR or search engine experience a plus\nHave an ownership mindset.
