Position Summary & Essential Duties
The following duties and responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s), and physical requirements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. SUMMARY:
This position is grant-funded and will support a new Multi-Tech Clinical Medical Assistant Certificate program under development with multiple certifications embedded including Phlebotomy, EKG, NCT, and CMA.
Under the general supervision from the Dean, Workforce and Continuing Education, the incumbent will prepare for instruction assignment(s), which may include studying/customizing existing instructor/facilitator guides, as well as developing curricula. The incumbent will be skilled in the effective use of adult learning techniques and tools to accomplish stated learning objectives for varied learning styles and multi-modal environments. Lesson planning and advanced preparation are required to ensure effective learning tools (i.e., handouts, workbooks, audio-visual materials, simulations) are ready in ample time for the class start time. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Temple College Workforce and Continuing Education Division in the scheduling and delivery of open-enrollment credit and non-credit courses and customized, contract training. The incumbent will professionally represent Temple College Workforce and Continuing Education in all interactions associated with assignments. The incumbent may also provide guidance and support to help businesses address organizational development needs. The incumbent will be part of the Workforce & Continuing Education team and, as such, will participate in Temple College events on campus and recruitment events off campus.
Please note: This is a grant-funded, non-tenured teaching position on a Professional Staff salary contract. Trainer schedules will vary and may include teaching evening, weekend, online, hybrid, and/or dual enrollment courses at various campuses.
Qualifications (Required and Preferred)
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS):
Associates (or higher) degree and three (3) years of related, non-teaching work experience in the designated healthcare field.
The right candidate will have knowledge in many of the following areas: Electrocardiography, Phlebotomy, Nursing, Radiology.
Expertise in the healthcare field in which the applicant intends to teach including, but not limited to, any required certifications, licenses, and/or designated work experiences; Previous experience helping adults learn in a classroom setting or an on-the-job training setting.
**Update 06/2024 : Minimum qualifications expanded to allow related education and work experience to be combined to reach five years. **
PREFERRED:
The preferred candidate will have:
5-10 years of related work experience
Knowledge of adult learning principles and a demonstrated commitment to incorporating high impact practices into a learning setting
Previous teaching experience in continuing education and/or credit courses for a community/technical college or university.
Bilingual capabilities
One or more of the following certifications:
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT)
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
Registered Nurse (RN)

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of teaching and instruction for individuals and groups.
Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design

Knowledge of the appropriate subject matter and the application of the subject matter for the discipline being taught.
Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operation for the protection of people, data, property, and institution.
SKILLS:

Effective communication skills and strategies, verbal and written in dealing with students and other involved parties.

Ability to work with a diverse faculty and student population ranging from dual credit to adult learners.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Primarily moderate activity is required with frequent standing, walking and occasional lifting and manipulation of objects up to 40 pounds or more with assistance. Keyboarding and computer use. Use of audio/visual devices.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is normally performed in an interior/office work environment. May be exposed to various types of gasses, chemicals or pathogens related to the healthcare environment.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Schedule will vary due to departmental commitments. Some evening and weekend hours may be required during peak periods, special events and contract training sessions.
This is an on-site position. Essential duties of the role must be performed in-person, during prescribed work hours.
