This role is accountable for the full lifecycle of petabyte-scale storage platforms—from architecture and deployment through optimization, automation, and decommissioning. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in enterprise storage technologies, virtualization, backup and disaster recovery, and classified/air-gapped operations, with the ability to serve as the senior escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn and manage the full lifecycle of enterprise storage platforms across classified production environments, including architecture, deployment, optimization, and decommissioning\nArchitect data center build-outs with integrated object storage, compute, and networking infrastructure\nEstablish and enforce storage infrastructure standards to reduce unplanned downtime and improve operational reliability\nDeploy and manage enterprise storage solutions like Dell EMC PowerScale/Isilon, NetApp ONTAP, Cohesity, and Nutanix platforms\nOperate enterprise backup and data protection solutions at petabyte scale, ensuring compliance with recovery objectives\nManage virtualization infrastructure including Hyper-V, VMware vSphere/ESXi, and container platforms (Kubernetes)\nAdminister identity and access management infrastructure including Active Directory, Group Policy, and LDAP in classified environments\nEnforce SCAP/STIG compliance and security hardening across all managed systems\nDevelop automation solutions using PowerShell and REST APIs to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes\nManage SAN fabric infrastructure (Fibre Channel, Brocade, Cisco) and network-attached storage protocols (SMB/CIFS, NFS, iSCSI)\nServe as senior escalation point for complex storage, server, and infrastructure issues across the enterprise\nMentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers as needed\nParticipate in 24/7 on-call rotation for mission-critical infrastructure support\nConduct technology refresh planning and execution, including hardware lifecycle management and EOL migrations\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nMinimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D., 16 years with a HS diploma\nExtensive hands-on experience with enterprise storage platforms at petabyte scale (Dell EMC PowerScale/Isilon, NetApp ONTAP, or equivalent)\nStrong expertise in backup and disaster recovery solutions (Commvault, Veeam, or equivalent) including DR design and recovery testing\nExperience with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V) and hyperconverged infrastructure (Nutanix, VxRail)\nProficiency in Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) administration in classified environments\nExperience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity management in air-gapped networks\nKnowledge of SAN fabric technologies (Fibre Channel, Brocade, Cisco) and storage protocols (SMB, NFS, iSCSI)\nExperience with SCAP/STIG hardening and federal security compliance in classified environments\nStrong automation skills (PowerShell, scripting, REST API integration)\nExcellent documentation and communication skills\nActive TS/SCI or Q/SCI clearance\nPreferred Qualifications\nDell EMC Isilon/PowerScale certification or equivalent storage vendor certification\nMicrosoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or equivalent\nExperience supporting Department of Energy (DOE), DoW or IC programs\nAWS experience (S3, EC2, VPC, IAM) and on-premises-to-cloud migration experience\nExperience with Kubernetes and container orchestration in classified environments\nFamiliarity with Cohesity data protection and management platforms\nExperience supporting Change Advisory Boards (CAB) for storage and infrastructure changes\nTrack record of authoring technical runbooks and knowledge base documentation\nPrior experience at Dell EMC or equivalent vendor in a technical support/engineering capacity\nDetails\nTarget Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
