CNC Operator
Job Description: CNC OperatorClassification: NonexemptRevision Date: 12/12/2024The CNC Operator routinely operates equipment in the Mill Shop, creates replenishment requests for raw materials and performs related material handling duties.Reporting: The CNC Operator reports to the Building 2 SupervisorDuties and Responsibilities:Load and operate CNC router table, table saw, band saw, cutoff saw and other equipment necessary to fabricate production parts in the Mill Shop area.Create CNC machine nests to optimize machine run time and obtain best utilization of sheet goods for the router operationPrepare weekly raw material replenishment requests to assure target inventory levels are maintainedPerform periodic maintenance and repair on Mill Shop equipmentMaintain clean and orderly workspaceParticipate in periodic inventory counts for materials in the Mill Shop work areaOperate material handling equipment in order to off load and put up incoming raw materials and to transfer work in progress to other shops or the stockroomCross train to support other work teams in Lamination, Cut and Grind, Patching and Assembly teamsMay be called upon to perform other material handling and light building and equipment maintenance functions plant wide.Competencies:Ability to interpret part drawings and production scheduling toolsAble to work with computers and networks to download parts files, create machine nests, obtain production schedules and work listsRequirementsPhysical Requirements and Working Environment:The ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularlyThe ability to wear personal protective gear correctly in production areas as requiredThe ability to work in an environment that routinely entails noise, dust and odorsOperate a fork lift on and other material handling equipment as necessaryThe ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, hear, speak and read English
