Reporting to the Controller, this role will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and scalability of financial reporting and accounting operations.\n\nThe Assistant Controller will own core accounting processes, including monthly and annual financial reporting, audit management, technical accounting, and equity accounting. This role will also support M&A activities, including due diligence, purchase accounting, and post-acquisition integration.\n\nThis is a hybrid position that has the minimum expectation to work out of our Downtown Seattle Office two days per week on Mondays and Thursdays. For this reason, candidates must be based in the Greater Seattle Area or willing to relocate.\nResponsibilities:\nAccounting Operations & Close\nSupport the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness\nOversee key areas of the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis\nDrive improvements in close processes, automation, and documentation\nSupport and review work performed by the accounting team to ensure high-quality outputs\nFinancial Reporting\nSupport and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP\nSupport internal and external reporting requirements, including deliverables for private equity stakeholders\nEnsure consistency and accuracy across financial reporting outputs\nTechnical Accounting\nResearch and document technical accounting positions under U.S. GAAP\nSupport and review accounting memos for complex or non-routine transactions\nLead implementation of new accounting standards and policies\nServe as a subject matter expert on accounting treatments across the organization\nAudit & Compliance\nServe as a primary liaison for external auditors, managing audit timelines, deliverables, and requests\nCoordinate preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation\nEnsure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies\nSupport ongoing enhancement of internal control environment\nM&A and Integration\nSupport M&A transactions, including due diligence and purchase accounting\nLead accounting for acquisitions, including opening balance sheet preparation and valuation coordination\nAssist with post-acquisition integration, including systems, processes, and reporting alignment\nPartner cross-functionally to ensure smooth financial integration of acquired entities\nEquity Accounting\nOwn accounting for equity-related transactions, including equity compensation and cap table changes\nCoordinate with external valuation specialists as needed\nEnsure accurate and compliant reporting of equity activity\nTeam Support & Collaboration\nPartner closely with FP&A, Tax, and other cross-functional teams\nSupport the Controller in scaling accounting processes and infrastructure\nMentor and guide junior team members as appropriate\nQualifications:\nCPA required\nStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, technical accounting, and financial reporting\nExperience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills\n8+ years of progressive accounting experience\nPublic accounting experience strongly preferred\nExperience in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment preferred\nDemonstrated experience with:\nFinancial statement preparation\nM&A / purchase accounting\nEntity liquidations\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\nHigh attention to detail and commitment to accuracy\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines\nEffective communicator with ability to work cross-functionally\nPreferred Attributes:\nExperience with system implementations or process automation\nFamiliarity with equity accounting and stock-based compensation\nProven ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment\nBenefits of Working at Rover.com\nCompetitive compensation\n401k match\nLong-term incentive plan with a company performance-based cash payout\nFlexible PTO\nCompetitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance\nCommuter benefits\nBring your dog to work (and unlimited puppy time)\nPet benefits, including $1000 toward adopting your first dog or cat\nStocked fridges, coffee, soda, and lots of treats (for humans and dogs) and free catered lunches monthly\nRegular team activities performed in-person and virtually\nCompensation:\nIn the greater Seattle area the first-year salary range is $140,761-$179,228.
