This role ensures accuracy, compliance with regulatory standards, and exceptional customer service while supporting the delivery of healthcare services in a military treatment facility.\n\nPay Rate: $29.43 / hour\n\nDuties:\n\n· Perform a full range of pharmacy technician procedures.\n\n· Perform pharmaceutical dispensing duties including filling new outpatient prescriptions, refilling prescriptions, and entering orders into databases.\n\n· Perform information consultation duties including supporting new and refill prescriptions, supporting patient requests, supporting physician’s requests, monitoring for drug interactions, and reporting adverse drug reactions.\n\n· Perform quality improvement duties including performing drug storage inspection, reviewing expired supplies, and producing error and workload reports and documentation.\n\n· Perform supply process duties including placing new orders, stocking/restocking shelves, inventory maintenance, producing not in stock reports.\n\n· Receives and reviews prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals to include controlled drugs on the formulary; determines type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs).\n\n· Practice aseptic techniques as necessary. Comply with infection control guidelines to include the proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious wastes, and the use of universal precautions to prevent the spread of infection.\n\n· Enter prescriptions into outpatient computer system reviewing profile for allergies drug/drug or drug/food interactions and duplicate orders.\n\n· Coordinates with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions; verifies appropriate medication, and checks the printed label affixed to the container against the original prescription for correctness.\n\n· Performs all outpatient functions with minimal supervision by a registered pharmacist.\n\n· Enter and retrieves patient specific information and reports from pharmacy-oriented mainframe computer systems.\n\n· Assists in conducting medication storage areas inspections/liaison visits, assists\n\nin educating hospital staff or other facility staff on the proper storage, access, and security of pharmaceuticals to include controlled drugs; reviews stock levels to ensue appropriate amount of pharmaceuticals are on hand to include critical care items; provides technical guidance to other pharmacy technicians and helps to resolve problems; sets up, operates, maintains, and assists in training other staff members on common and specialized instruments.\n\n· Receives and processes orders for controlled substances from prescriptions, wards, clinics, and pharmacy subsection; screens orders and prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness and conformity to laws and regulations; performs final pharmacy check and issues controlled substances to authorized areas, completes issue, and controls documents ensuring chain of custody is maintained; safeguards controlled substances according to regulations and pharmacy policies, reports all problems to the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC)/Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Section.\n\n· Interpret physicians’ order and perform necessary steps to input, fill, and dispense prescriptions within the parameters established by the Pharmacy Policy and Procedures Manual.\n\n· Answer routine questions concerning proper administration and use of medications, drug interactions and incompatibilities, availability of drugs, and unit of use. Convey necessary information to the hospital staff and/or patients to ensure correct use.\n\n· Maintain adequate levels of working stock, ensuring that all supplies are properly stored, and advise supply personnel of any shortages of medications or supplies.\n\n· Check drug supplies to ensure that medications are in date and properly maintained.\n\n· Maintain the required records and accountability documents reflecting the issuance and receipt of narcotic and controlled substances.\n\n· Implement all departmental policies and procedures and participate in quality assurance activities.\n\n· Assist pharmacists in providing guidance and training for pharmacy technician’s students and inexperienced technicians.\n\n· Maintain satisfactory conditions of cleanliness throughout the Pharmacy Department.\n\nQualifications:\n\n· One year of experience within the last two years as a pharmacy technician\n\n· Certificate, graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a formal pharmacy technician program (i.e. technical, hospital, or retail-based program) or a formal medical services training program of the United States Military\n\n· Must have a BLS and CPR certification\n\n· Valid, unrestricted license as a pharmacy technician in at least one state, territory or commonwealth of the US\n\nAdditional Information:\n\nBenefits: W2 pay package with paid leave, holidays and eligibility for health insurance options.\n\nAbout Loyal Source\n\nLoyal Source provides healthcare and technology solutions designed to improve outcomes and support mission-critical operations.
